1200 miles into our trip to LCDC now, sitting above Sedona and all its glory. See you fellas there.

The Autohome is aces so far and paired with the ARB base rack four bolts on each side (and no nuts) I can hoist the tent AND rack off together in 10 min to run slick top as my daily. Closer to 20 to get it on because of positioning the vehicle just so under the hoist.

Nice spot and view!

Unofficial preview: we'll be opening Sched up to leaders today/tomorrow so we can do a couple iterations on the trail plan prior to opening it up for everyone else. There will be an official newsletter sent via email about this, but I wanted to give folks here a heads up as things will be happening pretty quickly throughout the month.

Shoot. I'll be camping in the Utah mountains and coms out during sign up opening. As a rookie I'm happy to take whatever is left when I get back to cell service on Sunday afternoon. Alternately I suppose I could try to give the wife my list and have her try to sign me up while I'm gone.

Also as a rookie, I'll have to do some homework on whether or not my truck config (33's, sliders, aluminum skids, stock bumpers and suspension) is OK for the red trails. I don't want to hold up a group if my truck isn't capable enough to keep up or not break on a red trail. Any advice or recommendations that anyone is willing to provide on that before signups would be helpful so that I don't be the a-hole to hold up a group of more capable trucks on a difficult trail.

I led Blackbear last year and we had a stock 200 on it without issue. If I recall correctly, you should also be good on the other red trails. Make sure you pick Imogene if you haven't done it before!

I have done none of these trails before, so I much appreciate the help. Summer after high school like 30 years ago some friends and I took a trip to Durango and took a trail up toward Uncompahgre Peak in an old beat up Jeep Grand Cherokee to camp. That's the only Colorado off roading I've ever experienced.

Super stoked and can't wait to get there. Like so stoked that I'm reading about the trails and replying to this at work on the clock while the boss isn't watching... Getting fired will definitely lower the future mod budget... over and out.

Imogene is gorgeous. I made it up and down with 33” tires and sliders. I did a very minor bit of trail rash on the bottom of my rear bumper on the way down — that is probably due to lack of driver skill.

FWIW, the trail sign-up is not a one-and-done kind of thing. People tend to reshuffle their schedule prior to and sometimes during the event. This year, the constraints are a bit looser as we have fewer drivers than the total capacity so that we don't end up with any groups with over 10 vehicles. So, I expect you'll be able to get into whatever trails you want especially if you check back in occasionally on the Sched app.

That said, feel free to DM me your top picks and I can proxy for you on Saturday afternoon (this offer stands for anyone else as well).

All the trails in this region are awesome and worth doing at least once. Further, all trails that we run have been done by bone stock 200s with AT tires. I'd expect a bit of plastic scraping on Imogene and Poughkeepsie... potentially Black Bear. All of those trails are certainly more forgiving with clearance and armor. Trail obstacles tend to not really be a notable challenge when we hold the event in the San Juans. Most of the "situations" we encounter are due to soft shoulders, trail traffic, weather, and folks not paying enough attention to the trail because the scenery is so beautiful (no judgment -- been there, done that).

AT/MT tires + knowing how to to use low range, your center diff, and parking break + paying attention to the trail especially the line the person in front you takes ought to keep pretty much everyone enjoying the trail.

Most excellent info and I'm totally OK with plastic scraping. My only fear is at the end of the day being referred to as the jackass that held eveeyone elsw up lol. Plus as soon as the rear bumper rips off I get to shop for an armored one...

Last question: What beer or bottle of booze or other trinket do the hosts prefer as a gift of gratitude for all the leg work yall put into this to make it happen?

Leaving for Montana that morning so I may send you a list but if my calculations are correct, I'll be stopped in the 200 native territory...better known as a gas station around the time of sign up. Lol

Appreciate the gesture but no gifts needed or expected -- just enjoy Ouray and have a good time!

One thing is for sure, I’ll be bringing lack of driver skill by the bucket loads.

If it helps, I did a lot of these trails in the early 2000s in a nearly stock 1999 Dodge Durango. I am sure some are worse now from weather and wear but I would imagine very doable for a stock LC or LX. I will be in a nearly stock LX with LTX MS2 tires.

Ladies and Gents,

If anyone has a broken HVAC recirculation door in their 200; I'll be happy to host a mini-tech session sometime during LCDC to show folks how to repair their HVAC units. Message me here on the forum or post up if there's interest!

For those unaware:

We just sent the invites to Sched. Please use the next couple days to make sure you can log into the app and see the trails. You won't be able to sign up for any until Saturday morning.

Regarding getting into Sched, we've had several reports of people being unable to access the event via the Sched mobile app. I've reported this issue to Sched, but wanted to share that there is a workaround. Please try deleting the Sched app and reinstalling it. It's worked for everyone who has encountered an issue.

I've used Sched for a lot of events over the years and have always needed to delete it between events. Other than that its a great tool.
