Any thing on trail signups? I’m a bit off the grid and and want to make sure I haven’t missed an email or something.

I haven’t seen anything yet.

I can no longer attend. Not sure if you are sold out or not but I'd be happy to transfer my ticket to someone else.
Just a heads up. I have a camp spot at 4J RV Park that I can transfer to someone if you want it. I don't know which site, but it was for a 28' trailer with full hookups and 30A I believe.

Was just looking at timelines and logistics for work travel in July. Looking like I will be having to pick up the LX near Atlanta, then head to Austin for work on the 25th, then up through Albuquerque to Ouray.

Really excited and lookin forward to this event! Add to it that the LX is getting a body lift, bumpers, 37s, winch, and swingouts in Atlanta so it will be some nice big changes. Glad I’ll have some mileage to adjust to the new build and any changes in handling.

Nothin like the San Juans to shake out a new build! Maybe swing by Moab too!

I'll be in a similar boat as I'm still completing the my rebuild. First road trip and trails in new rig will be LCDC.

Right, just some easy trails up light hills. Congratulation on the rebuild! Looking forward to seeing your build and hitting the San Juan’s.

I would love to hit Moab, just not sure on time.

My wife Megan and I are excited to see everyone! Lexus USA has been gracious enough to allow us to bring a new GX 550 Overtrail Plus out to show and tell and help lead some trails in. Perhaps we can work a class in there as well. See you all soon.

Unless Lexus is offering a special discount for LCDC attendees I better stay far away...

I'm planning to get to Ouray on Saturday the 27. I want to be in Lake City that morning like 9:00 or 10:00 and take Cinnamon Pass to Ouray or maybe Silverton. My wife will be with me and not so much into the off road thing so I need to keep it pretty easy which is why I might drop down to Silverton and take payment up to Ouray. I'd prefer to be in a small group if anyone is interested in meeting in in Lake City that morning.

corkscrew after animas forks is pretty smooth, though there are a few switchbacks she may not like.

If you take cinnamon pass, I highly recommend taking the left fork into American Basin for a short detour. It was amazingly pretty when I was there with @mcgaskins and @TheGrrrrr last July. I think most of us miss it because you can’t tell from Cinnamon Pass what it will be like and the Alpine Loop is such a long day by the time most hit that fork it’s not even a consideration.

Hey folks, I've delayed the trail signups just a bit in order to get some more confidence on which trails will be open. I'll be checking in with folks who have led in the past or have offered to lead this year within the next week with plans to open trail signups by the second week of July.

It may feel like we're cutting this a little close, but in years past we've had to call a bunch of audibles in July based on which trails were likely or unlikely to open. I'm hoping we'll strike the right balance this year.

100% agree with Cole re waiting. If trails are assigned before confirming closures/availability, its a nightmare to UN-assign/RE-assign them..

On the plus side Ouray Co is reporting things open on their side, so hopefully with more snow melt all trails will be open this year.

Quick question regarding the trip. This is my first year. Do I need to have an permits/licensing in place before we can get on the trails?

Negative, Cole and Cody are handling any USFS permitting required.

The only licensing you need is if you plan to use a HAM radio, in which you'll need your HAM operator's license from the FCC. <- this is not a necessity to attend.

Cool, i don't have HAM or a license, I do have my GMRS license and a few handhelds. Probably won't have anything more powerful than that in place before LCDC.

Thanks!

You can borrow a HAM handheld as its helpful to listen in, and also…-in an emergency, you can Send as well.

And now the monsoons have hit the area. Engineers pass is closed again for a rock slide. I have not seen pictures yet of how big it is. Hopefully it will get cleared soon and things will dry out for the end of July. 🤞
