Steve, we are just going to have to play that one by ear. I am due for a visit from the stork in March, so we'll have to see. Sorry to be so noncommittal, but I don't have control over the schedule for my truck and I sure don't have any over this kid.

:)

No problem - I just threw you in for the next open date.

How about December 15?

The weekend before is Uwharrie, and we could make mine a HAMOM and monthly meeting . . . Hamon midday and then do the meeting at Barleys or Mellow Mushroom or Lobster Trap or . . .

Here's what I have for HAMOM on my 62:

1. Knuckle rebuild kit from Marlin Crawler with the replacement inner axle seal and wheel bearings.

2. Sliders from SROR (if Jim's psyche recovers from his flip-over this past weekend)

3. ARB bumper.

Rain or shine, we will be working in a heated garage with air tools available.

I will of course be providing a massive gourmet spread for lunch served by Hooters girls with lots of beer (this should get Dan's attention!)

Google my address for directions:

12 Sage Drive
Weaverville, NC 28787

Depending on class I'll be up for turks HAMOM.

Glad to see all the help and expertise! Looking forward to December 15!

Just confirmed that my 2 1/2" suspension is also on its merry way!

So here is what I have:

1. Marlin Crawler front axle rebuild kit.
2. Sliders from SROR.
3. ARB Winch Bumper (the new model) from 4Wheelparts
4. 2 1/2 inch suspension (in stock location). Comes with bushings.
5. Yauseu 7800 dual band radio. Deciding on antenna and location.

I am spraying down all relevant bolts now with PB blaster. Still don't have an SST for the hub job or brass drifts. Need to buy a floor jack and stands (Michelin kit at Sam's).

I aways have beer . . .

but for this crew, I have preordered!

December 15 HAMOM Update!

1. Springs have arrived and are sitting in the driveway, where UPS dropped them.

2. The ARB Dakar Bar is on. Only took three beers! (One less project for the HAMOM, more time for beer drinking!)

Looks great, David!

You've now passed the point of no return. :grinpimp:

I think I may be able to make this HAMOM after all.

Might have to drive the stock 78 to compare to your 82 and see what a real stock 40 looks like...

Thanks!

Still, plenty to do: axle rebuild; lift; sliders.

Andy, glad you might make it!

Ordering Shackles . . .

Deleted Question. Reason:talked to the manufacturer and got the answer! Lots of shiny stuff on its merry way.

A week before my Hamom!

What else do I need?

For the lift, I have:
1. A very cool and unique set of 2-3" springs:grinpimp: (with bushings)
2. 1 inch extended U-Bolts, 4 greasable shackles, 4 greasable pins
3. Front and Rear Sway Bar extension kits
4. I have been PB Blasting the bushings and bolts for the last week

For the Axle Rebuild I have

1. The proper kit from Marlin Crawler
2. The wheel bearings
3. The Inner Axle seal

Sliders:

1. Jim is building mine as we speak. It will be a close call:crybaby:

Tools:

1. Floor Jack and Stands
2. Comrpressor and Impact Wrench
3. Grease guns (what color grease for the repacking? Moly?)
4. Standard tools from Craftsman

and . . .
5. Beer, in very large cooler provided by Merle:bounce:

Do I need to buy a HUB SOCKET and BRASS DRIFTS or does the club have these?

Looking forward to it, and thanks in advance to those who come. Lots of good food, brew, and tunes! I should be able to keep the work area warm by keeping the garage door closed.

I have a hub socket. But we may need a spare just incase. Have the drift covered. What size compressor do you have?

Do you have a sazaw?

I'll bring a grinder. Snap nose pliers.

You need blue thread locker and some blue rtv sealant.

I have a compressor the size of a water heater (forget the cfm rating).

I have a Dewalt Reciprocating saw with metal blades.

Will buy blue thread lock and RTV.

This is going to be fun! :bounce:

I'll knock on wood and hope your axle rebuild is easier than mine was.

I didn't think we'd get Marshall off the concrete after he laid down flat on his back late in the day. I think Alex used the term marathon and it was apropos.

Your planning and prep is likely to be better as well as less "gotchas" once we tear into things. Plus, it won't be 98 degrees with 90% humidity, so that helps.

Looking forward to it!

Way too excited, so this is long.

I'm still hoping Dan will show up on the Axle rebuild. I have heard stories of him rebuilding an axle while conducting a conference call for his business~!

This truck has been well taken care of by its previous owner with consistent service, with little exposure to salt or rain for that matter. I think the PB Blaster to the bushings is helping, inasmuch as the suspension is much more supple these days.

I plan on locking the hubs and driving around a bit to lube them up some.

If my bumper is any indication, all those bolts came off with little "extra" effort, and I was able to save all but one. Dear Lord, I love that new ARB Dakar Bumper! Even the indicator lights are cool!

As far as Marshall's back, I have a good friend who is a Chiropractor, and an even better "friend" who says she gives massages . . . . either way, Marshall won't leave with a sore back!
