If everyone can agree on it, I would highly recommend looking at Cunningham Gulch / Stony Pass into Creede. It makes for a long day because you will need to find a way back to Ouray, but the trail is not heavily traveled and has some nice scenery. It is well described in the Wells and Massey trail guides.

I'm looking at rooms in town right now. I'm down to do whatever trails the group wants to do! super pyched for this trip!

It's like a 30 hr drive each way, I don't foresee my wife getting the time off, and I'm responsible for my son who will then 21 mos, but if I can figure something out I'd love to go. If I can't this year, I'd definitely be up for it in a year or two.

@kreiten and any other PNW'ers ( @pdxlc200 ?). It looks like @DawnC and I will continue on from Ouray and go visit family in Oregon (Cascades) once this event is finished. Maybe extend the party with a westward caravan?

We will have two dogs in tow.

sounds like a plan!

I'm working on this, but 28 hrs each way and my wife won't be joining me... hard enough to get her to go a couple of hours and its a long trip alone. And... what if I don't like you guys ;)

But not out yet. I'll think about it and see how things shake out in the next month or so.

If you come across I20 through DFW you can stay here the night then join this crowd. The New Mexico route is more scenic than that part of KY/IL/MO/KS but our first few hundred miles are similar. That would put you 11 and a half to DFW then 14 and a half from here to Ouray? Pretty good mid point and we have plenty of vice to share if you are so inclined

The scales are definitely tipping! Thanks for the offer! ... and yes, I am so inclined.

quick question, I got a 3 inch lift with 33's, are sliders a must on these trails or just a nice to have?

You'll be fine without. I am going to try to get some... Good excuse to tell wifey though. For protection. :)

Dammit.

Why did I have to go get my wife pregnant?! I really wish I could go on this ride. :bang:

If you guys can bear an 80 mixed in the crowd I may join you for a day. I'd like to see some 200's in action as one is planned for our next vehicle purchase.
Definitely!

In 4 weeks, but could really be any day....

If it helps ANY show these pics to the wife... we took our 6 month to Ouray in our 4Runner almost 4 years ago and we survived and we had a great time... Just sayin there may be hope. :)

Put us down a definite maybe! Looks like getting a hotel is the popular choice, but we'd be interested in camping if anyone's camping.
