OEM Front Coil Spacers Installed

I assumed they were considering using a 5mm spacer instead of a 10, but I might have had that wrong. If so you are correct, I don't think you can stack 15mm with the studs you are given.
Sorry, I may have misunderstood.

Here's pix of the OEM spacers and what my HE looks like after install. IMO this is a must do if you don't plan to lift obviously.

The problem is you run out of bolt length of you go thicker. You could use strut spacers like the Tundra crowd, but I imagine that would mess with suspension geometry.

Bolt length may be the least of the problems. We don't know the limit yet unless someone takes the time to cycle the suspension and measure things out, but there's a real chance that taller spacers may cause the shock body to become the compression limiter. This will destroy the suspension if taking a good hit. Could compensate by adding a thicker bump stop like a Superbump.

Shock being the compression limiter looks like this

I suspect just the 10mm spacer causes a mild version of shock limiting. A few times on hard hits with the stock struts and spacers I got a sharp bang instead of the softer bottoming event you’d expect from the bump stops. Unfortunately I never pushed it that hard without the spacers to compare before/after.

Probably not worth the hassle.

Totally agree, in my opinion not worth messing with a lift that is dialed in just to add these! Especially when it is designed to have a rake and levels out when you tow. Your truck (trucks) look awesome as is! 😎

@TeCKis300 I did about 8 years ago on my 2010 Tundra. The only difference is I was running a 3" spacer lift. The setup was a 1.5'' spacer between the coil and the strut hat and another smaller spacer ( same size as these) above the strut. I drove that thing like it was stolen. It help up well. It was only until I Jumped my Tundra in the Glamis sand dunes a few times that I had a Bilstein shock break like this. My.02 is that this is possible, but it takes extreme abuse to actually make it happen. With such a mild spacer lift here, I highly doubt anyone in a 200 will have this happen.

I've been on the fence about adding the OEM coil spacers since I bought my 200 back in March. There was a mild rake on the cruiser but not terrible and I just wasn't sure a 1" lift up front would be worth the cost of the spacers plus labor to install. I ended up having the spacers installed about 3 weeks ago and am very pleased with the results - the stance is noticeably more aggressive and much more level.

I realize this mod has been done by a ton of guys on the forum but there aren't many pictures of 2016+ models with OEM spacers so hopefully some will find this helpful. For reference the tires are 275/70/R18's, ground to fender measurements now are about 36.5" front/rear on the driver's side and 37" front/rear on the passenger side (gotta love the cruiser lean!). Ride quality has not been affected adversely at all. Not sure the pics do the new look much justice, but in person it is an obvious improvement!

Question. Ent to the dealership today to get my new 13 LC. I told them I wanted to add spacers and gave them the part number and they looked at me like I was dumb. They said they were factory. Did you add ones to the ones that were already on the truck?

To my best knowledge, no US models come with them from the factory. They are however in the "factory/OEM part" of the full strut assembly. They maybe looked up the strut assembly and saw the strut spacer already there and assumed it's on the truck. Outside of the US, that may be true - which is why it's included in the strut assembly to simplify ordering.

You can double check by looking at the length of the strut studs past the top mount. There are some before/after pictures throughout this forum. If it looks like about 1cm+ of thread length is left on the studs, that means you don't have the coil spacer and it can be installed.

Should be around $300 installed with an alignment.

@timjax is right, but to add on, there are clear pictures one page before this one in this thread, of exactly what to look for to determine whether they are there.

I'm 99% sure they aren't. But it's probably also the first time the dealer has had anyone ask, and they are just going by what's on their screen.

I just added OEM spacers and I couldn't be happier. I did it at the dealer while doing the fuel pump warranty repair. Got a full 1" front lift and the whole stance and look is just soooo much more good and right. 285/65/R18 Cooper ATX XL3 fits the front wheel wells nicely now. 2014 LC. Any dealer that says spacers are already there are complete idiots.

A great mod to pair with that front spacer is a mild 10mm spring spacer. Super easy install. Yes, it'll put just a tad of rake back in, but it'll be a nice lift overall, while maintaining payload handling without the rear looking saggy.

Don't forget to zero point calibrate the traction control system.

@DCOVIEL which dealer? in nashville? Looking for local shop to install the spacer

The dealer I asked wouldn't touch them. But now I'm back with my shop and can pop them in myself while I decide on what Kings I want (and then wait for them).

I am currently at a toyota dealer getting the front coil spacers installed on my 21 HE. I suspected that alignment will need to be done after the install and they have confirmed that. They are saying that safety system may need to be recalibrated and they will know it only after the install if the system gives an error. That is an extra 3 hours of labor. Did anyone had an experience of requiring to have safety system recalibration after the front OEM spacer install?

Never heard of that. Not discussed when I had mine installed

I have not seen that discussed as well so was a little surprised. Told me it is a liability to let me drive out of the dealer in case the system is not functioning right so are giving me heads up.

I have seen it posted here that some dealers refuse to install the spacers due to theoretical impact on the safety systems.

I do know that things like the radar antenna in the front of my 2013 are supposed to be leveled after any work that changes the front/rear ride height.. but that merely requires a flat area and a bubble level.

Safety systems should function the entire articulation range of the suspension. So when you’re rolling down the highway with 1,000# of tile in the trunk and the front is pointed to the sky, they should still function.

Completely makes sense. We drive with a$$ down often. Will see how the saga plays out.

Follow up question. Did anyone had to re-adjust headlights after this small lift at front. I don't want to blind oncoming traffic.
