When chosing a grade of bolt is it better to have a higher grade bolt than what Toyota originally had?

If you could get all the bolts on a cruiser would you rather have them all 8.8 or higher?

Reviving a very old subject. What grade bolt should be used for Body Mounts for 79+ tub?

Since OEM is hard to find or extremely pricey, has anyone used SAE Grade 8 bolts for body mounts?

Since they are close by I dont typically use the website, and now that I looked a lot of what they have is not on the site, So I would give them a call, they likely have what you need. Although now with Covid they dont let me pick though the bins I have to wait out front, but they dont mind getting 4 of these and 6 of those with the specifics I am looking for.

I am tempted to clean, tumble and re-coat oem hardware. Nothing (in my opinion) can replace the original Toyota bolts with the "target + number" on the head, for lack of better word. Not even new hardware from Toyota I have ordered. A giant hassle, yes. Apologies for asking, but regarding hardware, does anyone have a link to what was painted vs. left raw?

I am just starting to reassemble my FJ40 and ended up sandblasting and painting with a thin coat of polyurethane (ppg Essentials) the fasteners that were salvagable, seems to have gone well, but have not torqued them or had them in the weather yet. May need to use sockets that are one size up SAE maybe with painters tape.

Here in Minnesota I found a place that will take your crusty nuts, bolts misc. parts and will clean and re-zinc plate them for $50 for half a 5gal bucket.

good morning, starting a 40 project and need to bolt the front seats in. She is a 77 40, I think I found the correct part number "9165160820" but I can't find out what size the bolt is. Any help is appreciated.

Pics?
Is it for the seat-to-bracket, on the back of the front seat?

91651-60820 = 8mm 6T (higher strength) bolt, 20mm long under the head, with captive lock washer and captive flat washer.

Or is it a 5T bolt?
