Thanks Rob and good to meet you again as well. The truck is in great shape and I'm grateful to have gotten it.

I plan on starting to get organized this weekend, maybe even start on pulling the tub. Ordering the fenders tomorrow.

To answer Shush's post...if its all right I'd like to base my build thread here...even though I'm sure I've been a little needy through this, you've all been a great help and I'm sure I will have questions going forward.

Truck in its new home...

Got everything organized, sorted, and inventoried today. Going to start in tomorrow morning with getting the tub ready to pull. Anybody have any 'gotcha' tips for this?

Thanks man, but that's a sore subject right now. The shop is a rental property I have that has sat vacant since last may. It's been listed with my realtor since then. My 1yr listing agreement with him expires on Apr30 of this year. Of course, 2 days after I unload the 40 there, he calls me and tells me he leased it starting June 1. So I have to get the truck out in 6 weeks. Ugh. I've got a 3 car garage but it won't be near as nice as the shop.

To make matters worse, lift situation was great. Previous tenant had left a very large, rolling a-frame hoist. Would have been perfect...oh well.

Productive day so far. Have everything removed for the tub pull except wiring and knobs...which scares me to death honestly....

Thanks. Long day but a good one. Got the tub pulled and everything that came off is sorted and labeled.

I would love some suggestions on things that I should def check/repair/rebuild while the tub is off?

Some better pics...taken with a camera instead of my phone.

I'm going to try to get all the body stuff ready to send off for sandblasting and paint by this time next week.

In the meantime, would really like to baseline all the drivetrain, undercairrage, etc. And clean up the frame then coat it.

Pile of 'stuff' is getting larger and larger.

Body mount bolts were a b**** to get off, wound up sawz-alling the rears and breaking a couple of the sides. Will have to get new mounts.

Man your making good progress. Cant wait to see the finished product.

So, what is the plan with all this disassembly?

I'm taking it down as far as I'm comfortable with...and I'm pretty much there now. While the body work is getting done im going to get the frame cleaned up, work on all the wheels and brakes, clean and service all the auxiliary components, etc.

That's the plan anyway. I am always very open to suggestions on how to proceed, what to check, etc.

The frame and undercarriage are in really good shape from the bell housing forward, but from there back needs attention.

I think i'm going to start here, getting all this cleaned up, treated, and coated. Pics below give an idea of what I'm working with.

What is off limits with a very fine grit sandblasting?
Def will remove the remainder of the wiring first.

Planning on just cleaning and painting the areas where the owner before Rob went crazy w the smurf blue...

I have found a wire wheel on a grinder to be the best tool for that.

Use goggles and thick clothes.

I used the wire wheel for the front part of my frame. It worked well. I also had some of the wire fly off and go through my carhart pants into my leg, so definitely goggles and thick clothes.
