I'm surprised you didn't go with the OEM snorkel.
LC79 Enthusiasts –
We are already more than a month into 2018, and I have to apologize for being just a bit behind in getting out a New Year’s update on our LC America effort. When we embarked on this endeavor more than a year ago, we set off with unbridled enthusiasm and an unquenchable thirst for all things 70 Series. It would have been foolish to assume that the task that we faced was anything but monumental – or we would not be alone in our attempt – and I don’t think that we made that mistake. We expected to face significant challenges as we worked to put all of the pieces in place to bring the 70 Series to the U.S. market, to include myriad EPA emission compliance discoveries, the vagueness of the DOT/NHTSA vehicle certification process, the unpredictable nature of shipping and supplier relationships, the expense of facilities procurement – and the list goes on and on. So we planned for unexpected setbacks – and we have had some -- and we were pleasantly surprised when progress came more easily than we had anticipated. We studied and studied and studied some more and we met with anyone and everyone – the EPA and C.A.R.B and SEMA – and anyone else that could help us fill in the missing pieces to the 70 Series U.S. regulatory compliance puzzle. We have learned much along the way. Thankfully, we have almost exhausted what was once a monumental list of missing pieces.
So despite working along a slightly extended timeline, LC America is going to be the first U.S. company to bring the venerable Toyota 70 Series to the U.S. market – and do so legally. I suspect that we have turned away ~100 buyers that have asked us to “work” the U.S. Customs system and procure them a vehicle by any means possible and we have – and will continue to – steadfastly refuse. I suspect that I can sum up the status of our endeavor this way: While the exact point at which the task that lies ahead will be finished is not known, we can clearly see the light at the end of the tunnel. With that in mind:
· We are in our small vehicle manufacturing facility at 3119A N. El Paso Street in Colorado Springs, Colorado
· We are working with several industry leading diesel / suspension / engineering / manufacturing companies to complete our initial build
· We are working with our Wells Fargo Business Banking representative to be able to offer New Vehicle Financing
· We are scheduled for the commencement of final EPA emissions testing OOA February 19th
· We expect to start asking customers to configure their vehicles OOA May 1st
· We expect to have final EPA approval and an LC America E.O. number OOA June 1st
· We expect to deliver our first LC America to our very first U.S. customer OOA July 15th.
We are again excited to announce that the “base” LC America takes the absolute top of the line – and already highly capable – Toyota LC79 GXL Dual Cab Pick-Up several significant steps further by offering:
· More horsepower
· More torque
· Greater reliability
· Greater towing capacity
· Greater ground clearance
· Greater overall functionality.
We expect to offer our “base” LC America at an MSRP of ~$85,000. But when the time for your specific build approaches, we will ask you to configure your truck exactly the way you want it. As such, we will be offering myriad options / optional accessories to include:
· Rims
· Tires
· Bed Trays and Canopy
· Soft Top
· Bumpers (front and rear)
· Side Bars and Steps
· Roof Racks and Accessories
· Tents
· Underbody Protection Kits
· Suspension and Lifts
· Lighting
· Etc.
As we are getting close to being able to offer these special vehicles to our U.S. customers, we are reopening our reservation system so that for a $1,000 FULLY REFUNDABLE deposit – paid through Square Inc., one of the Top 5 Credit Card Processing Services currently available on the market – you can save your place in line. For a complete description of our Reservation Agreement process, please visit our LC America website at www.LC-America.com. With more than 200 respondents expressing an interest in purchasing one or more vehicles so far, we hope to work through this backlog of orders by mid-2019.
Thanks again for your interest in LC America and please reach out should you have any questions – I am always available!
v/r,
John.

I'd bet he does, too.
Same s*** in El Salvador , including homes. They want more for a equivalent home in San Salvador as they do in Seattle. Insane prices for the most dangerous country on the planet not at war...it actually is , they just don’t call it that when the enemy wears civilian clothes.I have been, four times for up to six weeks. Awesome country!
Can you blame them for bringing in junk Cruisers and trying to sell them for $50k!? Soon as people started paying lots of money for Land Cruisers and the word got out via the internet it was going to happen no matter what. They see a bunch of "rich" gringoes paying lots of cash for old work trucks. Ya!
And thanks to this perceived rich gringo wants a Cruiser thing, prices have risen worldwide. Hard to even find a good Cruiser at a good price anymore in countries like Colombia. When I first went down there in 2004 to hunt for trucks, you could buy FJ43's all day long for $2-10k. Not the case anymore. Costa Rica is another good example. Pile of rust, bondo and s*** repairs down there cost ya $10k minimum. And why is it BAT seems to like those CR trucks so much!? They didn't want to list my solid HJ47 unless it was some rediculous low price all the while they are listing bondo filled s*** show trucks on there that don't have factory beds. I just don't get that, I think BAT is going to s*** fast.
Cheers
Alright, is this real or not? ...I’m not spending another hour reading through this thread again .
If it is real , I may be interested , so I can export it to El Salvador when I move this summer.
This post sums it up pretty well:
Not mine, but supposed 2016 Land Cruiser Double Cab Pickup for sale...
I'm saying it's not real. Based on their history as scammers and the recent pitch for a credit card deposit, I think it's about done.
