I was just thinking about the doctor/lawyer who buys a VDJ79 for his collection (joining the ICON 40 Series, ICON Bronco, etc.) only to find out that Toyota of Newport Beach won't work on a 4.5 litre diesel..... And where does he go to get the beast serviced. The Papp Brothers originally planned to import Gulf-spec 1HZ engined trucks and that seemed like a good way to go.

I mean, I think the bigger concern is the “I paid these ****s all of this money and I don’t have a vehicle!”

Ya, there is that.

Was looking at it from my own, selfish perspective as someone who could bring in a truck on an exemption waiver. Technically, Georg and I are manufacturer for much of the product we import and distribute.

If we brought in a 1VD, where do we go for help if there is a warranty claim or service issue?

Georg of course! Or the Domininja.

:grinpimp:

Cheers

No 1VD experience, special service tools, tech resources and a full shop!

The same could probably have been said about other engines or platforms at one time.

;)

Cheers

Its an issue here in AUS to find someone with the knowledge to work on one competently.. And they do have issues! big $$ kinda issues.

If they were available here I would buy a 79 with a new 1HZ fitted over the v8.

Cliff notes from the guy suing the Papp Brothers. Looks like they've given up on scamming people with the 79 series story and moved on to listing vehicles they don't own for sale on eBay.

I bought a Mazda firetruck from "Papp Brothers Automotive" which I found via an eBay listing. I made a deal outside of eBay with Mike Papp, and he requested immediate payment of $6400. At first he said to pay via Square, but he wasn't able to claim the money. Then he said to use Paypal but he had some problem there so it wouldn't work. Finally he asked me to wire the money directly to him. Months went by and I never received the truck. Eventually he admitted that the truck wasn't on the way but that he would "make me whole" on my money. I asked for my money to be returned and he went dark. So I filed in small claims court and won a judgment because the Papp Brothers did not respond. Now I'm filing a civil suit against Mike Papp in Pennsylvania and John Papp in Colorado to recover my money and legal fees. I'm also talking to federal prosecutors and trying to persuade them to file wire fraud charges against the Papps. I'll let you know what develops.

I am amazed by the lack of google skills.

Seriously. There are pages upon pages on the google of scams these clowns have pulled.

I almost don’t feel bad for the people...

Yet, somehow Greg Mushro and VOR endure:flipoff2:
