Got the new rubber on early - this morning. Had to take some more up-to-date pics to share! So I hastily took some pictures before the light was completely gone.

Take close note of how shiny and perfect the paint is. This is probably the last time you'll see it like that! :D

Yeah the paint is in REALLY nice shape. What's the next mod?

I'd love an ARB bumper or sliders but in reality it's going to be bills that need paying :bang:

I hear that. I still need to get the BEBs done on mine and a bunch of front end work including steering knuckles. I'm saving up for that right now before any other mods.

Anyways your truck looks nice. I'm sure you will enjoy it.The HDJ81 just may be the best all around Land Cruiser on the road for a DD I think.

Wow Andrew! Good lookin truck. I must say you picked a nice truck. I was really impressed when I saw it at the wed. meeting. It looks even better with the new rubber. We will have to get you some sliders asap as those nice rocker panels deserve to stay in good condition.

Thanks dude :)

Let me know when you guys go out next and I will come along!

Let us know how those tires work out for you. They are currently the tire of choice in several mines i work at, and are on several hundred fleet trucks with really good feedback.
Nice truck. I want a "wrong-side" drive 80 now!:grinpimp:

So far so good! Very impressed.
  • Dry and wet traction on both highway and trail seems great.
  • Traction in mud/dirt seems good, they don't clog up with mud.
  • Noise on highway is barely audible.
  • Can take up to 65 PSI pressure for on-road use (helps for great mileage and steady steering)
  • Rated for use in snow, but I will have to update this post once I drive up north this winter. I want to see them tackle 3 feet of fresh powder.
:grinpimp:

Good call on the trans cooler! I had the simple no fan type put on and what a difference. Before install I once had the AT overheat but I have not had a problem since.

According to some transmission shops 99% of AT failures are due to the trans being overheated.

Yeah, ditto... few weeks ago we were climbing a mountain pass on a FS road and the AT Temp light came on. Flushed the ATF since then.

I had the A/T temp light come on on my Pajero once when I was driving the road to Forbidden Plateau. Slowed down and it went off. A couple months later I installed a pyrometer. Turns out by the time the A/T light comes on, the EGTs are literally off the gauge (not good).

I haven't installed a pyrometer on my 80 yet, but I'm guessing it will be similar. ie. if you keep your engine at a sane temperature you shouldn't have to worry about the transmission........... Although a cooler can't hurt, especially for towing.

Just got back from the muffler shop, they took off that HORRID ricer exhaust resonator/tip and put on a nice, simple stainless pipe w/curved off end. Looks 400x better now without that thing.

Congrats on the new Cruiser.

If you're going to be in a dusty environment, then either put a foam wrap around that filter or donate it to the local garbage bin.

The factory air filter is excellent and a K&N is a liability to the turbo.

~John

Replaced my K&N with a Napa Gold 2159 from the local Napa. $24.33. Figured it was a pretty good price. Also, the filter is bigger than my K&N, and is REALLY sturdy.

Steve and I replaced both our cruiser's diff oils, transfer case oil and my engine oil today. We also greased the birf housings on both trucks. Thanks for the help Steve!
