Just got back from the muffler shop, they took off that HORRID ricer exhaust resonator/tip and put on a nice, simple stainless pipe w/curved off end. Looks 400x better now without that thing.

Hey Andrew, Hows it running after our fuel adjustments?

If you can come by Jason's shop Friday (after work) and Ill grab that SD card from you.

Seems to run (and idle) fine. Smoke is much better. I'm going to wait to see how it performs up the Malahat to see if there is a performance hit... but from driving around town and between Victoria and Langford on the highway I couldn't tell.

You bet... or are you coming wheeling with me on Sunday?

Installed my gauge this weekend. Pyro probe is zip tied in my engine bay reading the ambient temp in the bay, lol... at least until Cam and I can tap into the exhaust. Pics to come later after it's finalized.

The last time I was at Radd they flushed my coolant system and installed a block heater. Yesterday, Radd (thanks Eric and John) changed out my BEB's. They were A-OK, which sucks but doesn't suck at the same time. They also replaced both rad hoses.

I picked up the new front wheel bearings and a knuckle rebuild kit - some fun in the near future I'm sure. Good to replace those DRY as F**CK wheel bearings!

Some pics of my new Cruisin' Off Road Armour will come soon too. :)

This truck makes me seriously miss the fun times I had in my 81.
Keep up the good work.
Can't wait to see your gauge install!
If all goes well I'm going to clean the truck tomorrow from the trip yesterday, and take a few new pictures. I'll post'em here :)

An update from recent!

I managed to find a used 80 e-locker actuator motor on MUD, we installed it the other week... FINALLY I have a functioning rear locker! Haven't had one since I bought the truck (it never worked).

I traded a fellow MUD'er for US spec 80 series front markers in amber, which are DOT/SAE. He got my clear JDM markers. I like the look, looks a lot better with my headlights this way.

I also managed to clear the black spray paint off my factory rims! Acetone, a tooth brush, many blue shop towels, a friend's slave labour and lots of patience later... I'm quite pleased with the results. I also gave them 2 coats of clearcoat just to be sure they were still covered. I'll post some better pics later, but here's the general idea.

New stuff done this week,

- Installed in-cab winch controls (master power switch button for power to the winch, and in/out toggle switch for controlling the winch,
- Wired in some spare 100 watt 5 inch fog lights I had sitting around (nice to have the factory jdm fog light switch and relay already there)
- Added 3m grip/safety tape to the sliders,
- Rock guard on the inside of my can holder to prevent diesel cans from wearing the paint off,
- Repainted entire rear bumper,
- Installed 400 watt inverter under my stereo, directly wired (with fuse) to battery,
- Replaced my damaged antenna with a new OEM one. NOW when it's retracted, it goes ALL the way down inside the fender! No more breaking antennas... :)

New stuff, including some maintenence and repairs. Expensive few weeks.

- Radd replaced my rear u-joints (they were badly worn) and put my driveshaft back into phase - WOW what a difference. Drives like a different vehicle.
- They also replaced my swaybar bushings which were sloppy. (again, noticable difference - and yes I WANT my swaybars thank you very much.)
- Replaced all tie rod ends and had alignment done
- Booked into shop next week for A/C repair and re-fill with R134
- Found and repaired TWO leaks into cabin. One from sunroof, one small one in front window.
- Adjusted my transmission kickdown cable. WOW - why hadn't I tried this before. So much nicer to drive and not jerky at all on the throttle.
- Moved my CB antenna up front
- Picked up an OEM cargo cover from Nathaniel (thanks man)
- Installed my new Speski cargo barrier (this is old news). Fit perfectly, even with the cargo window bars (HDJ81 specific) and there were even captured nuts behind the headliner for mounting. (Normally used for 3rd row grab handles in the States)

- Installed my new 3.4 CFM PUMA OBA system :beer::beer::D
- Drilled, tapped and mounted a dual 55-watt utility/backup light onto the rear swingout arm. Wiring it in this or next weekend.
- Extended my front and rear diff breathers HIGH. In fact, the front goes right up into my engine bay now.
- Extended my rear locker motor breather up through a grommet into my rear quarter panel. This is after rebuilding the :censor:'ing thing a 3rd time now.

Soon to come:

- Installing extra dual (capped) cigartte lighter power plugs into center console. Out of a new(er) truck.
- Installing a removable worklight / engine bay light (OEM out of an older GMC truck)
- Installing rock/utility lights on either side (mostly will be used for camping!)
- Picking up my new front bumper (!!!!! :D) from Jason at CruisinOffRoad on our way to Whipsaw!

Thanks! Yes, and others too. Hah. I'm very surprised I managed to get all that cool cruiser stuff done considering how busy the real world is keeping me these days.

Updates...

- Installed a removable worklight / engine bay light (OEM out of an older GMC truck). It's cool, has about a 20 foot cord, and looks OEM in the engine bay.

- Installed rock/utility lights on either side, up underneath the body way above the sliders. They're 55 watt flood lights and light up the ground on either side of the cruiser really well.

- Wired up the rear light and two rock lights to toggle switches on the dash. Then my friend Daniel the elec engineer spent about 20 minutes and BUILT me a circuit that would allow me to turn on all the utility lights and the headlights by simply pressing my AUX button on my remote door lock fob. WOW. works great. Click once they all come on... click again they all go out. This is independent of the toggle switches. Put diode logic in there too so they don't start feeding back into the wrong places.

- Replaced my steering stabilizer shock that I so nicely destroyed on the recent off road adventure with Ray at Mt Sicker. Seems every time I go up there I break something...

And, last but not least, here is an update from Jason from Cruisin Off Road - Armour for Land Cruisers ... making awesome progress on my front bumper. *drool* Can't say enough good stuff about this guy...
