I look forward to staring at that exquisite paint every day for the rest of my life!

Keep it up and you'll go blind. PM me your mailing address and I will send you all my rattle cans for free if you will promise to use them on the truck.

It is 6M1 and it drives me nutz. We've got like 10 of them in the club. Don't any of you guys have any sense of style? Dan is on his third 6M1 paint job on the SAME ugly truck and it just gets worse every time he paints it. Maybe Lurch will photoshop it another color (sage?) for me.

Onur has the right idea... if it is already ugly, then black bed liner will do just fine.

I was sooooo pulling for the blue one. We've got no blue ones in the club. ****, I might buy the blue one just for something a bit different and to keep Shawn from getting it for Jill. ************

-Mike-

Have you ever considered that it's so popular because it's the BEST color? Just sayin'...

BELIEVE ME, I was pulling for the blue one, too. I LOVE that truck... the dude just wouldn't come down enough on his price. Couldn't afford it. Not enough moolah. Short on funds. Didn't have the cash, sadly. Inadequate benjamins. Needed more bones in the bank. Couldn't stack up enough scratch. Deficient coinage. Game over, please insert 5200 quarters to continue playing "blue waco landcruiser", thank you.

Did I mention that I really really liked that damn blue one?

I have discussed this with Mott and he gave me the inside scoop directly from the bowels of Toyota in Japan. The Japanese domestic market, Europe, and the Aussies wouldn't take any of the bile green trucks and Araco had bought a large quantity of the 6M1 paint so they dumped them on the US market at a time where the US was clamoring for any Land Cruiser of any color. They could sell us anything and that is exactly what they did.... at a premium price too!

You heard it here first.

I love Mike's tales of Toyota Motor Corporation!

Congrats on the rig. 6M1 is indeed a popular color.

Now grab it and drive it like you stole it.

Soon it will look like mine!

;)

Dan's 93 had to be painted (the 2nd time) before he would buy it and he was the original owner!

Hmmmmm, that's very interesting. Now where can I get some of this "perfect color", as I call it? I want to paint my Goldwing. Of course, I have an absolutely extravagant Goldwing maintenance budget, so price is no object!

Daisy, if you will promise to paint it a different color then I'll sand till I'm blue in the Cruiser.... err face.

Onur, are you implying that I would embelish a post?

Dude, you should be able to get all the 6M1 you want from Japan. They dumped all the trucks they could and they still have boat loads of the stuff. I've heard they use it as ballast on the Toyota transport ships. Not sure 'bout that though. Call Araco and tell them Onur said....

HEY Mike! Play nice, or Jon is going to have to break out the pics of your "paint protection" plan for the new guy. YOU ARE ALREADY NUTZ! I have never known anyone (other than you) that would wrap thier truck in saran wrap and then bitch about someone's "sense of style!" Be happy he found a Cruiser he likes.

I just don't want to get caught up in the whole "you have to have this or that on your truck" scene... I'm a pretty smart guy and a grown up, been fixing and maintaining old junky vehicles for years, and it's time to fix and maintain one I really like. When I get it, I'll have a blast whether it has the latest Slee doodad or not.

I've been in this club for about 8 years. I make enough money to buy the stuff everyone says I need but I have different priorities and interests. They like to give me crap for it but I'm a big boy. I can handle it. I had an '87 FJ60 for about 6 years. All I did to it was put some 31" BFG ATs on it and then drove it. It did everything I needed it to and got everywhere I wanted it to. Then about 3 years ago, I bought a '99 UZJ100. Again, all I've done is put some 285/75R16 BFG ATs on it (besides the expensive 90K service right after I bought it). Would I like to spend $6K on bumpers, sliders and a lift? Sure. Will I? No. The truck is perfectly capable of off-roading without all that, as long as you are smart and know your and the vehicle's limits. It still hauls my family around to various camping and wheeling locations all over the Southwest. It looks like the one you bought is already well upgraded so it will do very well.

when did Marc become the voice of reason around here? I've been upgrading my trucks for years and it hasn't afff...fffe...fffe...fffected me!:D

and this has to be the longest new guy thread ever! I'm gonna go heat proof my 40 now...

THANK YOU! I was starting to get worried that you couldn't love a cruiser without adding a bunch of stuff to it! I really appreciate your comments, man. I'm going to do what I'm going to do and I really don't care what anyone else (besides my wife) thinks about it, and I look forward to getting some grief for not buying expensive add-ons, bring it on!

...I just didn't want to be the only one!

Adam,

You have until Saturday of this week to pick up your ride. We got a ride coming up on Sunday. Chop, chop mi amigo.....

Update on the 80 in CO: Talked to the guy, he's a mechanic and did all the work himself... after the truck overheated. "I had the head machined, and it's run pretty good since then". He also couldn't give me a straight answer about leaks. This didn't give me a big warm fuzzy.
He made the bumpers himself, after a pattern he said he copied from someone on 'mud. It's a great-looking rig, just not the one for me. Looks like a steal for someone who's willing, though.

The search continues, and I'm darn proud of the length of this thread. Makes me feel SPEEEEEESH-UL.

LAUGHING at "it hasn't afff...fffe...fffe...fffected me!"

Damn it, these fake orgasms are really taking their toll on me.....

Marc did that to us too. I remember about 10 different vehicles he obsessed over during his 6 month search which ended up with a mall Cruiser for Danise.

Someone put this thread on ice till Dude gets serious.

There's a big difference between serious and stupid. Its been four days since I sold my truck, and you're accusing me of screwing around and not being "serious" about this? Sorry I'm such a strain on your patience. You may have a long wait until I make a smart choice with MY money, bub. Hang in there. Go check out some books from the library to read. Rent some movies. Take up needlepoint or something.

I personally wouldn't mess with the Wulf.

...and he is, after all, joking.
