Wow, this is a major labor of love! Very impressed with what you've achieved.

I will say though it's funny you not wanting a rusty fj55.... and then you buy one from Australia. They're all as bad as that if not worse here!

I bought it throught Gumtree, She looked nice on pictures ...HaHaHa. The price was nice...

2500 Au$.
I wanted a 55 an there was no way to find one where I live so I looked the most far from home I could find...

I was quite lazy this time but I reinstalled front dender after rust treatment, next step paint the rear fenders and reinstall the other stuff and do the registration. As it is cold outside, I have to wait the temperature is high enought.

2500 isn't too bad. I paid 3k for mine and it's very similar condition. well done!

Starting to come together mate. I'm still grinding and bogging but will be starting to look at undercoat in the next week or two!

Yesterday I painted the hood. I wac quite happy except one tiny place. so I decided to paint a second coat after sanding the area I didn't like and the result was awfull. cracks in the paint, dipping... I dont know why. It is 2k paint in spray can. any idea.?
so totay sanding the second coat annd installed it on the car to make it easyer.

Tatat,

Was the spray can the type that you have to activate the hardener through the bottom of the can. If you didn't do this, you might be getting crappy results.

It is exactly this style of can. I did well the first coat and did the same the second.
the paint looked like the cracked ground in desertic area. Not sure I want to try again. I am thinking of letting it done by my usual mechanic.

More decent piggie is'nt it?. Next week I ll drive her to the shop to paint rear fenders and rockers to go forward, as it is too cold here. then I ll go to the rego...

Looking good Tatat!

Looks like there is a few of us at similar stages - I'm hoping to get mine finished so I can get it down to registration in a few weeks.

sure, I have seen smiles on faces. and laughs, and thumbs up. I must say I was in the car with no seat , quite surprising I guess. Cant wait to see my pig completed (or just decent ).
