some roof work on DS . Issue with the warpage after welding. the roof is no more on the ribs. AAAARGH. I have to find another route. A picture of my poor's man bender.

Does anyone have a solution to avoid warpage after welding?. I aligned nicely pieces of metal and after welding they make a "snake line".
All advices are welcome...

Tig welding helps and short bursts, while letting it cool before each weld. Keep it clamped down tight, while cooling.

Thanks, Ill try to change my way.

Tatat,

I have a friend that works in a body shop and he is telling me they bond most of their panels to avoid warpage.

This video shows the process for a door skin to give you an idea.

Thanks J Mack, but in my case, iI am not able to build a perfect part to fit to the remaining part of the roof, but I like the dea.
I will try to do like Ron suggested me.

Maybe you could skin an old Ford van roof and get the ribbed roof as described elsewhere in here...

I like the idea, but a ecoline roof is more rara than a piggie here. Ill try to do my best and bondo, sanding, bondo, sanding and see the result. I was thinking to create a part in glassfiber who cover the edge of the roof and bond it. I have seen some guys who make parts on utube videos .

followed yours advices, so did as slowly as possible, and I had a better result, quite finished one side, next step the rear curve ...
I am happy, correct result for me...

Redone the roof work, I didnt like the curve, the new one looks more OEM. still much metal play

Hi Guys, some news.
The roof is welded to the structure. I spend much time to fnish the metal work, my neighbours were happy when I told them that cuttting and grinding metal was quite finished.
I spend some time to smooth the windshield frame, sanding, bondo, sanding..... . same for the rear corners of the roof.
Question to specialist. Under the paint of the roof, some areas of superficial rust. ( see pictures) what would you do to treat that, Here I cannot find Por15.
I have recieved few days ago my paint. I have foud a society who reproduce the original colors and fill spray can with it. good price and quick service. If someone is interested.
