These are beautiful. Well engineered and manufactured.

I'm curious why you wnet with tan instead of more of a chocolate brown to match the lower panels/carpet. I think that might look more "factory" - kind of like the one with the original carpet cut to fit.
Thanks, I think it's a really good value too, looking at the other offerings out there I'm confident that you get more for your dollar with my version.

As far as the color, I thought it looked good in a light tone like the seats but I did consider darker colors. I have received a lot of compliments on the tan color especially with the black hardware but I'm not surprised that I can't appeal to everyone with only two colors. I do offer custom colors and modifications on these but it adds quite a bit to the cost.

I want to see what a grey carpeted version looks like!

Just finished installing for a local mud member @Rea1994
Nice work and attention to detail, has a clean finish with great fitment @Notch

Thanks man!
@mingles your stock carpet looks amazing. I always liked the idea of these tailgate storage doors but hated how they looked. I'm going to have to add this to my list of mods now that I've seen it look OEM. @Notch you can expect an order from me later in the year!

mingles did a great job with that carpet. I'm still not ready to sell them pre-carpeted but I think it's a great DIY project. Thanks SkyMall! I'm all caught up on orders so they ship same business day.

Another batch, ready to ship!

If I had some non-coated (raw brushed finish shown below, not hand sanded) ones for MUD price of $545 shipped how many takers would there be? There might be an opportunity to have these in about a month to six weeks. They look good as is and would save a few bucks for the guys who want to install carpet themselves.

I have followed as you developed the tailgate cover and it is now time to get what I believe to be a very good product based on the images and comments. My order has been placed. Can't wait to get and install it.

Thanks! I got your payment and your Desert Tan panel is packed up and ready to get on the UPS truck tomorrow.

I have another batch coming in soon and several of both colors in stock, ready to ship.

These really are nicely done! I have a couple of other projects to do first, but I will definitely be a customer in the not too distant future.

Good Job. It IS an excellent value and we appreciate your hard work developing it and offering at a reasonable price.

For those that are waiting, I just got another small batch of Black ones finished and I have several Desert Tan ready to ship. Please call the shop, email or message with any questions. Thanks!

Howdy all

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Adam from Back Bay Customs. Ask and you shall receive. I wanted Adams tailgate storage but I had to have the latches recessed. The answer I got from Adam was yes no problem and it will be done in a few weeks. This one cost a little more than his standard tailgate storage panel since there is a little more labor to go in and cut and weld to give me the recessed latches. The final product is flat out awesome. I am sure Adam will do the recessed latches for anyone at an extra cost. Send him a message. Thanks Adam you have another happy customer. You should change your forum name from Notch to Top Notch because that's the kind of customer service you provide.

Here are some pictures of the final product.

Thanks for the post Todd!

Yup, I'm capable of doing nearly anything with metal and I wanted Todd to post his tailgate here to kind of showcase my custom work. The shop rate is $70/hr plus materials. For the detail freaks I want to point out that my logo on Todd's panel is stamped into the aluminum and filled with powdercoat, then sanded to reveal the graphic.

The standard panels are around $600 and if I have to unpack, strip one (takes a lonnnng time), add latch plates and re-coat it would be an extra $400+++. For some guys it's worth it but I think the surface mounted low profile latches really work well unless you have clearance problems. I get that they look really cool being flush but I think a production version would be around $750 and I don't see many people paying that much, maybe I'm wrong though.

That was my favorite part! This should be included on all panels going forward
