Well I got one up before it re-fritzed and couldn't upload more. Aussie's will slag me, hell even a few of you lads may slag me but the 4.2L is a great little motor. Down here they call 'em a boat anchor cause no one wants 'em, so they're kinda like your 283 in that regard. But when you consider this was the most popular GM V8 ever sold in AU, coupled with the fact that the largest capacity engine we ever got was 350/351 cubes, this little 253-cuber ain't all bad. It's a marked increase over the F, is a helluva lot lighter and has a great note to boot. Runs a stock, trouble-free Q-jet and cast iron headers.

That photo is almost like a brilliant painting. Seriously, it looks like art. You can't keep your eyes from wandering around in all the detail. :)

Kind of looks like you spend time running it on the beach.

Shucks thanks mate. I may have Instagrammed the HELL out of it, but yeah I like to think I've inherited a good eye. The cool thing about Insta is that you can dial up colours and make all the rattiness pop - it's not that rusty in real life. I think there may only be 2-3 pics in all 45 pages of my build thread that aren't altered in some way haha.

Here's how my wires are routed... The motor was from a Sept 69 Chev Bel Aire. It is tidy and prevents melted wires.

Couldn't spot the pics of mine so I borrowed this prettier one.

This is cool. It's turning into a good reference for locating my 5.3.View attachment 1182058

FYI, my front motor mounts rested on "1x2" on each side when I had the mounts welded in on each side. Many installs are higher, but I wanted to keep the C.O.G. as low as possible.

Downey has a manual, as well as AA's online. Keep in mind exhaust routing, driveshafts, & steering... Looks like you're on the right track.

This...and the transfer case shift mechanism. I almost screwed myself by putting the tcase too high on the first one I did. Had I not checked clearance to the body, I would've had to scrap the engine and trans mounts and start over or cut into the floor. No fun, for sure.

Yep, checking and re-checking. I'll be posting some photos of the current state soon in the building Luckydog thread. I need to get things as far forward as I can. I'm down to 3" between the radiator and very front of the engine, I'd like to get closer but I don't think I can get a fan into much less space than that. I pretty much know where I need to add the scab plates but I think I'll tacky he mounts into place just in case I need to move things a little more later.

Heres the stuff Ive uploaded so far

.....or not? Guess I cant attach my media folder?

Here's mine!!
