If you squint a little can you see this atop a ‘72 4-bolt main 350. It has been sitting on the shelf for far too long. 2019… I’m hoping this will be the year I get it installed with the painless wiring harness. I think it’s time to start chipping away at it so that everything will be ready to just bolt on the new manifold and connect the new harness.

Apparently it has been 8 years since I installed this second SBC. How time has flown by.

Man I ran an old tune port on my 10:1 355. It would literally run anywhere. Power was always lacking for what it was, however tuning was basically non existent

The 4 bolt main 350 out of a '72 fleet side is rated at a whopping 165 hp... I don't expect a lot more, but it would be hard for it to put out less. A 350 in an '87 Camaro with TPI is rated at 225 hp and 330 ft/lbs so it should be somewhat better. TPI should be smoother and more consistent than the carb I'm currently running. I'm not racing it, so I'll take improved starting and drivability even if it's just a sideways step in power.
If I decide I really want more, I've got a neighbor who has installed MegaSquirt on his Miata. He said he'd help me if I wanted to go that route.

Great plan.

Mine had phenomenal drivability. Great low end, no top end. Like 4700 was literally all it would turn. But for a truck on 42s it was more then enough

This is what I call a "FrankenCrusier". It's a 69 FJ40 with a GM V8, automatic with power steering. Not sure of the origin of donated GM parts.

I got it as a package deal when I bought my current project, a 79 FJ40. The guy I bought it from said his wife wanted them both "gone".

I haven't touched the 69 V8 FrankenCruiser since I bought it years ago, but hope to getting it running again, someday.

Let me help you imagine! 72 350, 87 firebird TPI

Looks similar to what I was envisioning… except that the air intake goes over to the side and a snorkel to get cold air from outside the truck.
I had thought about taking it to one of the side vents....I think I saw someone else that did that on here, but I only saw it after I had already used that space for my relays and wiring....
