Hey Drew are you using a tig for this or a regular mig? I only ask cuz all of the close ups of your welds look damn good. I have just gotten into welding myself and I am just curious. Thanks.

MIG, 220v Lincoln machine. Thanks for the kind words. Running about 2 miles of beads seems to help the look of the welds. ;) Not to mention, if I am going to take a close up of a weld, you better bet I am going to pick the best of all of them :D

This thread just surpassed American Idol in ratings!!!

Great job!!

Thanks, my wife watches Idol more than this thread though! :D

So it is busy around my house lately. Things done this weekend:

Powder Coated:

Draw Bar
Plug for jack
Water tank hold downs
Propane "feet"
Inside of front box... to combat the corrosion like fumes
the LID! :D

Painted:

Frame
Spring shackles
Ubolts
Ubolt plates
Axle

Man, I am tired, if the trailer isn't blue by Tuesday at 9pm, the trailer will not be in Moab. Not playing games here, my weather window is just on Monday and Tuesday then I am back to temps too cold to shoot the thing...

Forgot to take a pic until the primer was on... two colors? Had them both on hand both the same kind just different colors.

Wish me luck... or pray! :D

are you using rattle cans?

Yeah, just on the frame and axle though, I thought I will probably redo the suspension before a few years goes by, so no need for the best finish ever.

Rezarf <><

Trailer won't be in Moab, too much to do with the time left. I wasn't able to get the paint on by today and we are dropping in temps with snow and rain the rest of the week.

Bummer, everyone is still welcome to come by our campsite I'd love to meet you all.

Sad, sad day :(

But I have a lot of work to still knock out on the 40 so I still gotta get crackin'!

No thanks ;)

Too many things still need addressing to just slap it together. I am going to do it once and do it right.

:D

:D

Sorry to hear it won't be done in time for Moab. I would love to see it in person to steal your ideas! I'm wimping out and hopefully buying an M101 tomorrow. No build for me, although it will need plenty of mods! :grinpimp:

Seriously, that's lame!

Close the garage door, fire up a heater and get to it! :D

Arya- You've never played with Hairspray and a lighter have you! :D

Mike, more on that indy build man! You should post up a link in a new thread over here to your build up on ExPo. killer stuff for sure. I might have to hire you out to install an indy suspension on my trailer :D

Well, it might be a little bit before I get back to the indy build. My shop is in the process of aquiring a new toy, I mean tool. Along with that will be a new project as well. This project will be on a lot tighter schedule though. As I collect more parts for this new project I may start a new thread. Then again I may have to wait for the project to be completed before I can post anything.

Sorry to hear about you trailer not coming together in the time frame that you were hoping for. That said, I'm glad that you are doing it right. It would be a shame to see you end up with a trailer that you were less than satisfied with just because you were trying to meet a deadline come hell or high water.

As always can't wait to see more progress.

Mike

In the grand scheme of things, a minor setback. Glad you didn't decide to rush through it in the end, a build of this quality doesn't deserve that. Go to CM, have fun, get recharged, then come back and finish at your leisure.

Is it too late to recommend *not* to paint it the same color as the Cruiser? Just sharing a lesson hard-learned...

Why? I am a ways off from paint and still have not yet decided. Mine is more of an M416/C101 clone so I was debating either OD or same color as the cruiser(Dark green)

Thanks,

Ed

What are all of us in the bleachers going to do when you are done with your trailer project Drew? What a let down for us it will be, not to look forward to seeing your great ideas, fab skills, execution and progress! Hmmm...what project do you have on your "list" that comes up next? Gotta keep us entertained! :D

Henry, is that because you switch vehicles around more?

Yeah thanks man, I am going to put everything consolidated on a website so I can weed out the peanut gallery :D ;)

Then I think I am going to find a rolled 100 series, chop it behind the front doors and build a "VW" camper out of it! :D

Seriously... well... maybe!... probably use the trailer for 10 years first!

Drew
