Yeah I want more wheeling pics!! Especially ones with all those diesels :O

oh, it's been a while... there are some changes around here.
First, I've been slowly getting the hilux in shape for a few wheeling weekends.

This was the result, on 35's.
Cut the rear off, allpro springs, hydroassist, arb front, mid mounted the winch to pull both ways (rope runs alsmost straight all the way to the front), rocksliders and some other small stuff.
next up is getting a locker in the rear.

perfect tap on the ps box.

Pump in, this is the old 2L diesel, making it fit also on the upcomming 2LT2 engine.

Planned to use the PTO winch for this setup, but wanted a flat belly, so i went for a TG 8000, setup works flawlessly, and the snatch block in that distance to the winch makes the rope lay down perfectly on the drum, no matter what way i' was pulling.

more to come, sorting some pix...

And the 60 was relived after a few trips, broke a few leaves in the ome, so it's waiting for a budget.

so i had this setup for a while...
But relived the one without 4wd.

And got this thingy. 87' LJ73
IMG_20130219_155831.jpg

2LT engine, FRP top, removable doortops all around, had a winch, put a used ome lift on it, 33's and a biig service, rebuilt the knuckles and so on.
Got some body rust, but it's tight and runs great. Great frame.

So all i gotta do now is sell the oldest hilux, put the money into a new ome on the 60, and keep the 73 as my DD, cheaper than the thirsty 2H TDI.

Looking forward to some topless cruising this summer.
Got some decent bids on the 60, but it's staying!!

Quick prep for Adventure in Sweden

sorry for just posting my hilux progress, but the 60 will have to wait.
still debating what to do with it, as i am prepping it for Iceland next year.
have ordered a rtt, arriving before Christmas, so will do necessary upgrades during winter. OME, 12ht and h55f.

So, i did a "last minute decision" to sign up for the a Swedish adventure run in September. Was amongst the last few to sign on, had to make some changes to my work schedule.
Anyway, lots of minor things had to be done to attend, and i was goin to trailer the hilux for 9 hours to get there. 3 days of adventure, and trailer it back.
sad leaving the 60 behind this time.

so this was my transfer case at the moment.

but in a matter of hours the lower 4.8 gearing was in, new clutch in, slave serviced, and tranny in place.
using a chain pulley block is trough the hole is the easiest way ever, allows for minor adjustments.

pulled the front third to fix the leaking o ring on the brass crap air line for the ARB.
Found this.

with only a few days to go, and lots of other rigging to do, i just swapped in a LSD in the front.
Pulled the old leaky water punp, to find the new aftermarket one not usable.
got a OEM pump by express over night the next morning.
So i had to go to work, find a way to pack and organize stuff for 2 guys in a single cab and just button up minor issues like patching a sidewall tear in two iroks, mount a 300bar scuba tank, lights and other stuff. made a priority list, and went on all night.
had to go pick up the licence plates for it too, to have insurance and stuff.
they are actually for a tractor licence. sweet!

Result:
no extra led or hid lights. Tested the hennesey hammock first time for a few hours.
Absolutely recommended, but i wish i ordered the longer version, with a thermarest and sleeping bag it got a little narrow at the feet.

but got most stuff in order.
GOPR0979.JPG

alu boxes bolted on rubber mounts, (almost water tight) modded in blink and brake lights, air tank in the middle, tools and spare parts, and one stanley food and kitchen box. simple.
CB radio and antenna, hilift in place. tires seem to hold air. now only two with minor leaks along the bead, did not bother.

one more of the hammock and rain fly. works well, rained all night.
let it dry before i pulled the snakeskin over it and tucked in the cab.

a video i slammed together. why is the camera never running when things need to be documented?

passed this brown bear den. out catching dinner. found tracks and crap not far from our camp the second day.
they called my hammock a bear pinata! lol

was never a big challenge on this adventure, but a mystic landscape to pass. we were together with a 80 and a unimog most of the time, breaking our own trails.
the 80 was running 35's with minor lift, pretty much stock, hanged up on a lot of obstacles. the unimog did well with the portals, but went deep in the wet areas.
the hiux did really well, no trail carnage, besides snapping the antenna last day.

got back and got to work. the small 73 cruiser is a great little rig, but i bought a used rack of a friend and slapped on it. have done some service to the 73, still runs great.

had a few roadtrips this summer, fun to drive. but the 2lt engine is not a beast.
