Full float axle is in! It took most of today and a lot of that was hunched over cussing making brake lines underneath the truck. I originally swapped over the old ones but they leaked so I made new and surprisingly they didn't leak. I had just enough time before dark to drive it around the neighborhood and nothing exploded. That's always a good thing.

Everyone likes photos so here you go. Old stuff ready to come out. I had to get creative with a smaller tire on the passenger side and a floor jack on the drivers side to get it out. I left the springs on the truck. Only dropped the rear hangers.

I gotta say it's looks pretty sexy now.

Big project done so now on to the little ones.
My oil dip stick looks like it was soldered back together a few times and is a discontinued item so no replacement. A ended up using a spare 80 series dipstick that I had laying around. It is the same just a few inches long and has the updated pull handle. After I cut it down to the proper measurement it works.

I started the Dakota Digital dash install a few days ago doing a few hours each day. I now have all the wiring and dash in place. Next up is drain some coolant to replace the water temp sensor and programming the speedo and fuel gauge. I spliced in labeled pigtails for all wiring so old dash could go back in easily. Once everything has been tested I will secure all wiring a little better.
As for setting the mileage I've decided to pretend the odometer has rolled over twice which would be 261800km. I will calculate that to miles and program it in.

This will be a fun setting to play with.

Can you program it display 0.0 MIN ?

Last night I really wanted to call the DD install done but I got hung up programming the fuel sender. It was the first time for me measuring resistance without assistance. For the better part of an hour I kept using a body ground when trying to find the resistance. Once I watched a YouTube video on how to do it I figured it out. Ground needed to be on the sender even if it was pulled from the vehicle. Ding ding now it made sense and worked. I now have a working fuel gauge. I also got the water temp sensor installed so now it's only the speedo left to calibrate. I also still need to order the tach ecu as well and modify the alternator.

I might still have a few of these B 3B oil dipsticks floating around the shop, remind me when we get closer to Roundup and I will bring you a correct one ;-)

Sounds like a plan.

I went for a 0-60 run yesterday and found out the the Dakota Digital 0-60 timer quits at 25.5 seconds. :meh: The old B really only has one acceleration speed and that is gradual.

Freight truck arrived at work today dropping off goodies. Metal Tech rear bumper/tire carrier and Jackson roll cage.

Metal tech rear bumper installed. Bikini top on as well ready for summer although it seems like winter came back in Austin this weekend. I was hoping my "Otro...Toyota" bumper sticker would go on the rear bumper but it didn't so I put it on the front. Down is Costa Rica they usually put them between the wipers but I didn't want it there.

Back from Roundup. It was so much fun. Truck did great getting there and out on the trails. Unfortunately I developed a small pinhole in the upper section of my oil pan which I notice when airing up in Mason. Lost about half my oil but never lost oil pressure so I don't think anything is wrong with the engine. I got home and drain the rest of the oil and nothing looked bad in it. I will pull the pan to investigate further this week.

AAA finally paying off.

Had to get creative to get the truck in the garage. Pushed it using the 4wd diesel mule with a tire in the front.

The remaining oil from the pan.

What caused the pin hole?
I'm wondering that myself. I'll know more when I pull the pan. Small sharp rock from the road, old age? Worse case something from the inside poked it which wouldn't be good. When I shut it down nothing sounded weird.
