Having a bird hit, and shatter, the mirror I think would give anybody the shakes, heebie jeebies, and something to think about for a while. From the pic of what's left of the mirror frame it had to be a hard hit. Glad you and Chester weren't hurt.

Again, love the pics of your travels with 44 and Chester. Struggling to keep up with Mud, and all the garden and yard work around here. Finally caught up to page 8 on this forum, and your thread. Who knows, I may just get up to page 6 on this forum soon, or lose ground again. Oh well, it is the typical busy summer. If I'm not able to get back right away, have a safe and fun trip.

So... I was wrong, yet again...

I wrapped (insulated) the brass T... This was needed anyway.

When I fired 44 up, for the first time since we got home, I found that I have 3-4psi main tank fuel pressure and 0psi aux tank fuel pressure.

I took my trusty probe light and checked the aux fuel pump... Voila! Light Bulb came on.

Brilliant deduction number 1, Voltage is good to aux pump...

But... Pump is not coming on... Connected my JumpBox to the pump terminals and the pump works fine...

Brilliant deduction number 2, connectors must not be making good contact... Installed new connectors.

WTF!! Same problem.

Dug out my trusty multimeter and checked voltage to main pump... 11.7v...

Checked voltage to aux pump... 4.65v...

Brilliant deduction number 3, the Pollak valve must be defective.

Installed spare Pollak.

Noooooo!! Same problem!!

Checked voltage at the DPDT Toggle Switch in the dash... Same low voltage on the aux side.

Swapped main and aux in the DPDT... now aux has 3-4psi and main has 0psi.

Brilliant deduction number 4, the Pollak DPDT has gone bad.

Ordered a new switch from Amazon... delivery Saturday.

Live and learn... start troubleshooting electrics at the source and work toward the goal... Rather than ass backwards. :cool:
 
Danny, I fully expect that you will be out in the Vegas sun, wrenching on your 40 in the current temps, stay cool my friend.

I'm not in the sun, but the garage is plenty hot!!

I'm changing some things around inside, to make it more "Roomy"... and my replacement fuel tank switch just arrived, I'll get that out of the way today too.

Then, clean the garage and mop the floor, so Dianna doesn't get her tires dirty.

Your 40's looking great and looks like you'll be driving it by the time you get to MT... But, will you have everything else ready to go? :)

Job change, moving and divorce are the three major life change stressors... Play it safe and take your wife out to dinner tonight ;)
 
Still "enlarging" the inside of 44... I eventually realized that I have more than ample headroom and was wasting a lot of very valuable real estate.

My ceiling is painted, not headlined... So, I pried loose two LED puck lights and glued a 32"x24" Molle panel to the ceiling, then glued the two puck lights back in place. It's amazing what one can learn from watching Harry Pooter and the Goblet of Fire... J.R. Introduced the "Charmed Tent" and showed me how to take the small footprint of 44 and build out a huge cockpit area. :rolleyes:

I moved a number of the larger things from the bottom of the overhead console (above the dash) to the ceiling... Now Mark (@65swb45) will be able to see out of the windshield... Of course, he will probably need to bow his head to ride in 44... I think I'll make that a requirement anyway. :hmm:

I also took a second 32"x24" Molle panel and cut it in half and attached it to the front of my rear "attic"... Cleaned up the look nicely and made it much easier to attach whatever comes to mind.

Dianna will soon be finished painting the inside of the house, cabinets and all... I think maybe it's about time I stop dicking around with 44 and get the garage cleaned up. :cool:

You bet!! But, later... It's too hot to breath here... We're leaving on a trailer trip to the Rockies next week.. Not sure when we'll return... But, hopefully, not until it cools down again... Assuming it eventually does...

Unfortunately, we weren't able to reserve our favorite campsites this year... The campground is only open from Jul 1st to Labor Day... 10k'... Snows outside that window.

That damned assault trial was scheduled for July 31st... So, no flexibility to schedule... Missed out and trial is now rescheduled, for the fourth time, for Oct 31.

The assaultee has moved and this old man's memory is fading more every time they get a stay.

Practice poor posture until I see you again. :hillbilly:

The man knows of what he speaks - just arrived at our place outside of Las Vegas where it's cooled down to 99 degrees, both inside and outside the double-wide :frown:. Cranked up the air conditioner hoping to get it cooled down enough to sleep halfway comfortably. I need to get a good night's sleep so I can start early in the morning with diagnosing the knock in my '84 FJ60's 2F.
 
Thats the reason we left town the first of June and won`t get back till October It`s to dam hot there !!!

I grew up in the heat of Calif's Imperial Valley... before they invented humidity outside and AC inside. Then spent 15 months in Libya, between the Sahara and the Med. Then, 5 years in Tucson. Now, almost 5 years in Vegas.

I KNOW hot!!

We moved here with the intent of being gone all summer, every summer. Yet, something keeps coming up... but, we're leaving next week... in search of melting glaciers.

Hope your knock isn't serious.
