Cleaned up the rear cross member, painted it, and bolted on the bumperettes. Didn't realize one was so out of wack.

That truck is so nice looking. I can’t wait to see it all buffed out. It really needs the 4Plus bumper I have for sale. Those seat covers could be made from genuine rat a$$ from the player haters ball.

Removed the flairs. The opening beneath looked like a beaver chewed it out. Then I removed all the emblems and external dodads.
First round of buffing is done. Looks alot better and no more chalkiness to rub off.

Did the 2nd round of buffing with some wax. Doesn't really look much different, but it does smell nice now.....lol.
Need to make a shopping list and decide what gets fixed and what stays. Also need to count the flywheel teeth so I can buy a new starter.

You've got a blue 40 fetish I see. Also, I really dig this 40.

It's just a coincidence that this one is blue like my last build. I do like this color though.
Got the heater and dash pulled out this morning. Only one dash screw would not come out.....not bad considering.

Jack unless the 327 is absolutely toast, you should check the numbers on it. If you haven’t already. It looks like a big harmonic balancer, which is usually a HiPo motor. It could have come from a Corvette or Camaro. The restoration guys will pay decent money for them.

Does’nt look like a 327? Early 70’s 350 truck engine. Yes a big balancer on a 327 would be an L79! Very desirable 350hp 327! Easiest way to check, 327 would have a road draft tube by the distributor!( that and the casting number!

Got a ton of parts on order. I have decided to repair the rear wheel openings back to stock and eliminate the flairs. Gonna treat the floor with rust inhibitor then coat it with some Lizard Skin.

If you do end keeping the V8 I would consider finding a H42 top cover from a FJ60 and the transfer shift lever from an early FJ60. With the boss for the T case shifter forward on the early transmission case those levers were bent backwards. 60 series transmission tower is further back. Those two things would help with the original look in the cab. Personally for the desert I like the heavy cast iron block of the F series engines. Then the close to double oil capacity helps in the desert heat.

Patch mostly welded in. As you may notice.....I am not going for perfect. I am building a nice beater to have fun with. This thing really needs new full quarters and redo the rear sill. I am going for the middle ground.....good enough.....lol
