12 years ago I got my first peek at this original condition FJ40 at @Bossman ‘s secret lair deep in the pines in south Arkansas. I’m not sure how long it had been there but it was long enough to collect a bit of dust and I fell in love.

Over the years I’ve told Bossman how much I’d like to polish this turd bit and finally on Friday night under the gazebo at the Cruiser Crawl he relented.

Mind you, I had not seen it in 12 years and I can barely remember what I did 12 days ago but I knew I wanted to get my mitts on it

This FJ40 was purchased new in Monroe Louisiana in 1975 and lived in Crossett, AR for its entire life until the local parts guy told Bossman about it.

He went to look at it and the tires were flat and the brakes were locked up but Bossman drug it on the trailer and made his way with it to his shop about 10 miles away

This fj40 is on its first lap around the odometer. The original owner used it to squirrel hunt and fish. Tag was last updated the year I got my drivers license

This is such a great photo ….. we laughed (as original as this truck is), that the owners son likely told dad these trucks needed the fenders cut bigger and got about this far before he a) got caught or b) they both chickened out

This is also awesome. Stock radio installed over or through the dash blank 😆

The trip was home was uneventful and beautiful through the Arkansas and Mississippi delta.

I was unloading and dying to get my first “before” photos when my dad sheepishly walked up and said he needed me to pull him out of the mud.

I figured this was a bit too much for Moe Green so I grabbed the Kubota

Aight. I’m gonna quit after this post. I took it back to the tractor pressure washer and gave it the business on the outside and underside. I’ll be making a plan on how to eat this elephant over the next few days. Going to pick up my next customer project on Saturday. I plan to work this one in a bit at a time between jobs
