Laid a few heavy layers of black paint on the condenser before l installed it to help with corrosion down the track. While waiting for the paint to dry l had a closer look as to why my bonnet always seem to sit slightly high on the RH side. Came to the conclusion that the airflow meter and intake hose set up now sat against the bonnet as it has been rotated from its original position and it was annoying my OCD. So worked out after removing the front rubber mount it cleared so l cut 10mm out of the front leg and rewelded it back together. Problem sorted. Also cleaned up and painted all the front panel bits and pieces while reassembling. Just need to replace the orings in the top of the compressor and should be ready for a regas.

Found that the rear of my Ultraflex headlights had started to corrode. This is the only one with a lot of corrosion and my old girl doesn’t see a lot of beach work so a bit strange. Had these for 4 years now and they have been great headlights, awesome upgrade from the factory candles. Anyway taped them up and hit them with the sand blasted and zinc paint then some black. Hopefully stops more corrosion

I would say two hours to pull it out and back in, it’s not a bad job plus a few hours sandblasting and making new foam gaskets and cleaning.
Beatle Bayly most new radiators and coolers l see at my mates shop are a bit light on in the painting department and they always lay the paint on them. I live near the coast and can drive the local double Island beach so want this too last a few years.

You're in a beautiful part of the country! Would love to be local enough to visit Fraser whenever!

My compressor has no information plate but l’m assuming it’s a Denso 10PA model with the top 1 piece manifold. I have another two compressors here, one with two seperate hose connections suction and discharge and the other is a 10PA with the one piece manifold which has the same body dimensions as mine. I will strip the front pulley and top cover and that will be my spare. Will try to chase up a manifold seal as I think it’s worth doing while going to this much effort.

Finally got to my mates shop to make a new hose for the air con to route the hose away from the dump pipe and J pipe turbo set up. We cut the original one at the firewall and welded a nut to attached to a new hose. Then did the same at the compressor end and made a new hose. Was hoping to hide it but the best route was over the top of the booster and away from the heat.

Removed the A/C compressor to replace the manifold seal and give it a clean up. Found the pulley bearing was a little noisy so cleaned the old grease and repacked with grease, like new again. While removing the pulley and clutch l found some green dye on the centre bolt so decided to use the spare compressor l had which seems to be in better condition. So swapped all the required parts over to that and gave the pulley and clutch a quick sand blast and paint. The other compressor has what looks like a thermo switch which I’m thinking is for overheat? Just cut the wires and hope for the best 😂

While waiting to for a mate to organise my regas on the A/C l wanted to clean up the under bonnet and fit some heat shield l have had in the shed since l bought my waterproof underlay. Since the old hood liner was buggered and l cut a big hole it to fit my scoop. So l started making some cardboard templates to fit between the ribs, then transferred that to the heat shield which is a sticky back product. Then trimmed them to fit. Also painted the edges where I had cut the bonnet with some zinc paint and some white and painted the bottom of the scoop to help it blend in better.

What size steam pipe did you use for the J pipe? Im about to build my own and dont remember what size I used on my last manifold I built.
Thanks mate, I used 1 1/2” SCH40, this works with the factory manifold
Here is what l brought to build the J pipe
Think l ended up with a spare 45 degree bend. I would love to build a FZJ105 with the bigger 3,500kg tow capacity and do the same to the engine.

Been on the hunt for an upper tailgate in white to replace mine as it has rust around the window frame. After not being able to find one under $500 l reached out to young bloke who’s local to me.
I had bought my 80 series chassis for my future build from him and he had a tailgate with some slight damage he said l could have, he even gave me a damaged one for the landcruiser badge.
So got it home and started to strip and knock out a few bumps and damage. Pulled the window out and found some rust😔
