On display in a sand pit with kids playing on it. Guess it’s an attraction for patrons, painted in the Matso company colours.
Looks to good to be parked up in a playground

Got a parts order from Amayama and fitted up a few parts. Got a new fuel resistor as it was playing up and l was using an old spare, new fusible link as a spare and the 3 hole washer jets😉

Been a while since l have done any work to the 80, busy learning the new job. Benefit is l get to drive a new 70 series V8 ute for my work.
Finally put some more hours into the rear bar after picking up some steel for the tyre swing out. Also grabbed some steel to make a new headboard for the HJ47 as the original is all bent.
The 70 series ute line up at the work house.

Spray black 2 pac under the bottom side of the rear bar, only wanted to do the sides seen in black raptor, plus it saves on using too much raptor.

Then a few weeks later got the raptor on, also touched up the bullbar for the HJ47 ute. Really happy with the finished product.
Now to finish off the swing arms and get them painted up.

Got the rear bar fitted up and new Toyota mudflaps on. Now just working out the rear tyre position, initially l had only 10mm or less clearance between the rear tailgate.
So cut it off and repositioned it so it ended up with 30mm clearance, hopefully that will be enough.

Went and inspected an engine from a dyna truck that a guy was parting out, took it for a drive and agreed on a price. He was going to pull the engine while l was away at work but then had a change of heart and tried to pull out of the deal with some dodgy excuses. After a few messages about how l had paid a deposit and spent the time and money to drive 300km round trip to inspect and make a deal he agreed to the original deal.
So two weeks later l picked up my 15BF, 4.1litre direct injection diesel and brought it home.

Looks like my fuel solenoid for the sub tank might be faulty, last 2 times l have filled up both gauges are coming down together like they are balanced. Thinking the solenoid is stuck open and linking the tanks together. Anyway another thing to check once the fuel level drops. I wonder if this fuel cut off valve in the main tank could cause the issue.

Otherwise this looks like a solenoid for switching and of course is worth $200, will see if l can find this and test.

Spent a bit of time checking the solenoid and it opens and closes as it should. Cleaned and painted it back up and started to check all the connections, seem good. The solenoid has power to it all the time and thinking it should only have power to open when it’s transferring🤷🏻‍♂️
Thinking l might pull the sub tank gauge and inspect. Does anyone know where the ecu for the sub tank is located on a 96 model?
Early one was in the LH rear quarter but nothing in mine.
Checked the operation of the the low level switch, works.

So read that on the later 80 series 95+ models the engine ecu controls the fuel transfer, Can anyone confirm this?
Here’s where the early model fuel transfer ecu lives as you can see mine has the plug but nothing else.

After a tidy up in the shed and being side tracked with the 15B turbo build l did some more work on the rear carriers. Took a while to find all the parts but got the Jerry can holder welded up and strut brackets measured and fitted. Laid down some primer before the rain from the cyclone gets here. Then enjoyed some of our local beers, not a bad drop🍻

With all the crap weather we have had this year and non stop rain l thought l would have a look at why my wipers always seemed slow. I suspected the linkages were gummed up with 30 year old grease and would need some love. Pulled the wipers and cover, cleaned the leaves and grime out and stripped the wiper linkage and pivots. They certainly felt tight so l stripped, cleaned and sand blasted back to new. Used some moly grease and reassembled. I grabbed my old rust proofing gun and laid some cavity wax in the wiper plenum and sprayed some rust shield on the top section.
