You're gonna have to let me drive after it's installed. That way I'll know I need one:steer:

Ummm... I don't THINK so!

(just kidding, of course you can)

Did Marlin send you the fixture to machine the tcase for the shift rail on the ToyBox? I think he loans it out.

That's news to me... what is it?

unfortunately this thing comes with no instructions... they referred me to a thread here... I'm going to bug them to put together SOMETHING.

now I'm going to ask them about this "fixture" too...

The shift rail on the toybox interferes with the split case by just a bit. It'll be evident once you line the two up where the case needs to be shaved, with a dremel or something like that.

A TOYota gearBOX (transfer case gear section from a Toyota Mini truck) added in between the existing transmission and transfer case. this adds optional low range options... it is a second transfer case.

Thanx for the explanation, Mark. So actually you can climb a wall with your cruiser with this thing? Must be real fun:bounce::clap::bounce2:

I knew this was an issue with the Orion box but didn't know about it being a problem with the splitcase. Thanks!

No problem, I only know through the threads I've read. I love researching this stuff!

Since you're using the H55F your install process will be simple compared to mine. Once you get over hacking off the end of your transmission output shaft... You will love the Toybox.

Sawzall is ready and waiting!

My TB came with a shortened O/P shaft for the H42. Cutting the existing shaft sounds a lot easier than R&R the old one with the shortened one though.

I would highly recommend one of these.

One you install the toybox you throw on the shift pattern form high to low will become a pain in the a**. 2-4 is front to rear and not a big deal, but high to low is left to right and mine ended up having the lever laying almost on the floor to acheive that kind of throw. The geometry of moving that back 7 inches increase the cross action considerably

Yes but it wont work with the H55's 19 spline shaft.

Also, Marlin includes the new shaft because it's acutally a 10 spline output-it otherwise would not go on the 16 spline output of an older H42 like yours. Plus then you get an entirely new shaft with no wear on the splines. I'm actually glad Marlin does it that way.

I would highly recommend one of these.

I totally agree with this. You will want a twin stick kit and Georg's is a nice one. That's how I set mine up. It is very convenient to have the high-low and 2wd-4wd as separate functions.

Sawzall? Beg borrow or steal a grinder and use a cut off wheel( zip disc ).

That's a pretty hard chunk of steel to cut with a Sawzall! Just be sure to clear up the burrs really really well after the cut or it will be almost impossible to mate them together.

I was not specifically saying I was going to use a saw - just demonstrating my lack of reluctance towards cutting the shaft... a grinder and and cut-off wheel(s) will be easier ya think?
