Good evening, wondering where you got your fan, fan shroud, radiator and hoses? I have the same year and color FJ40 but am far behind and your progress is inspiring. Thanks!

There are 2 options that you have. 1st is a shroud from an FJ60 and an 8 blade plastic fan. I got mine from @65swb45 (Mark's Offroad). Mark is a great person and vendor. The second is keep your stock shroud and get a plastic 6 blade fan. Mark could also get you one--they are still available from Toyota as well. Of the two option, I prefer the latter. The 8 blade fan was too loud for my liking. You will need a spacer with longer bolts that goes between the plastic fan and the water pump pulley. Mark can also hook you up with one of those (I am pretty sure he sells it as a kit). Replacing the 4 blade metal fan is one of the best upgrades you can make.

Good luck, enjoy the journey. Be more stubborn than any obstacle that comes your way and trust me, obstacles and frustrations will come. I and others will be happy to help. There are many, many people smarter than me on this forum that can guide you--I'll fill in as best I can where I can.

thanks for the feedback especially on the 8 blade fan versus the 6 blade fan. My shroud has some rust at the base so I am looking for options along with replacing the radiator too.
Look forward to updates on Marion.

Thanks for the plug Dean. It's really hard for small shops like mine to hang in there right now, and some of them aren't going to make it though this. At times like this, I take nothing for granted, and really appreciate all the support you and the others reading this continue to give me.

In case anyone missed the thread in the announcement section, I am having a sale until next Wednesday. ;)

Mark,
All about small businesses, let me know the best way to place an order. I need a couple of things and will order to keep things headed out your door.

Thanks. Just leave a VM with your ph# and I’ll get back to you after 3 when I’m back in the office.

Question for ya: I might have missed it in the 17 pages, but why the name Marion? I ask because I was born and raised in Marion, TX

Great question, thank you for asking as I have meant to explain her name but have gotten side tracked with other details on her.

So there are two reasons for her name. I am a 5th generation Texan. My family settled in Morgan Mill, TX In the late 1800’s. My great great grandfather, great grandmother, and grandfather all had the name Marion—Patrick Marion Larner, Marion Alice Larner, and Marion Dean Earp. That is the first reason.

Second, is because of my son. When we bought her, I explained to him that she needed a name. Given the way she looked and rode, it reminded him of the trucks on the Indiana Jones Temple of the Forbidden Eye ride at Disneyland. It was an easy pick for him—Marion Ravenwood, the Indian Jones heroine.

So, for those reasons, the name Marion seemed perfect.

The picture on my avatar was taken when I was driving back to San Antonio from Houston after picking up some hard doors for her.

Awesome backstory.. similarly, I am a 6th gen Texan. Grew up in Marion (we were actually the exit right after 465 in your profile pic). After a few short stints in college station, Fort Worth and Harker heights, we are finally settled in San Antonio!

Awesome truck btw!

6th generation, that's cool--I know we catch some s*** about it from non-Texans but I love Texas and being a Texan--maybe it is because my family has been in this great state for so long or maybe because it is just that the state is awesome (well, except for the power grid).

We've gotta get together one of these days, there are some great Land Cruiser people here in San Antonio.

For sure! I need to get connected with other cruiserheads. I’m right here in Castle Hills, so definitely down to get a group together

I have been researching, for some time now, EFI for Marion. I have read through several threads and the Sniper 2300 manual and one question that I have not found a definitive answer on is a pressure regulator. The Sniper has a pressure regulator built into the unit itself but I have seen members discuss a separate pressure regulator placed between the gas tank and the fuel inlet on the Sniper. The Sniper manual does not mention a separate one. A combination filter/pressure regulator by Wix seems to been one option discussed, the other is this one from Holley:

Any input on benefit/need for this is greatly appreciated (@wngrog @FJ60Cam).

Holley was including the GSL392 in their kits. (don't know about now). The 392 & the 394 are both well capable of 60 psi but the 392 delivers more GPM. The 394 delivers plenty of GPM. Most of what it pumps gets sent back to the tank anyway. I run the 394 without issue.
I've tried multiple plumbing configurations and settled on an Aeromotive regulator mounted rearward with the pump and a single line entering the engine bay. I don't care for the idea of sending fuel heated up in the engine bay back to the tank.

Where have others mounted their fuel pumps? I have the Sniper 2300 and mounted the pump under the body near where the passenger seat back would be. An EFI fuel pump sounds like a can of pissed off wasps and is really noticeable (even above a free flowing exhaust). I am looking for ways to quiet the pump without going full bore to install a in-tank option.

I’ve got my Walbro mounted on the frame rail. You can hear it at prime but once the engine is running it is silent.

Mounting the pump to the sheetmetal will give it the resonance of a snare drum. Move it to a rubber isolated bracket on the frame and I bet you would have better results with the noise.

The area to the right in the photo, above the brake line bracket is well protected. Make a "U" bend out of 5/16 fuel line, you could bring the line through the filter in its present spot, over to pump and reverse to the frame fuel line cleanly with the "U".
