Thank you very much. Yes, I am that guy he was probably referring to. I bought a very low mile 1 HD-FTE (factory test or executive car) for my fire truck but couldn't pull the trigger on the swap. The FTE is now the alternative if the 3B cannot be brought to full functionality.

We'll see how it goes, the 73 is going to shop next week for diagnosis and rehab.

Looking good, Ward!

Thanks, Alberto
Looking forward to see it with the final wheel/tire combination.
Me too. So far, very happy with spacers and relocation of wheel face (either the white beaters or the take-offs). I really do like the "wolf" wheels in gray. Will probably buy a second set as they are reasonably priced.

I do like your wheel selection a whole lot, too. The shade of gray that you painted them will look stellar!

Speaking of electrics, I ordered a set of LED units to replace the stock headlights. Trucklites have been around for several years and prices have come down a bit.

The attractions for me include: white light with good cut-off (my night vision has gone to s***) and same units work on both 12 and 24 volts (since I may change from 24 to 12 at some point.

Couple of good threads/mentions her on MUD. Tapage has them in his 60 wagon and speaks well of them. Available from Amazon.

Also, any suggestions for highway/trail lights for the ARB bull bar?

Busy time and the Burrito has been bottom of list. Also, blew up the starter last week - only able to start by compression. Here is a shot of the truck halfway up the hill.

Fired it up and drove 101 miles to Torfab for some long-deferred maintenance (and a new starter). Given prior 29 year career on a Spanish olive farm, it is fitting that it has ended up on a Washington state holly farm.

Yes, I saw that. The parts showed up yesterday and they are amazingly well crafted. Lens, LEDs, aluminum housing, very nice.

Report to follow in a couple of weeks, when installed.

... blew up the starter last week...

Bad News / Good News

Bad news is I'm an idjit / Good news is that I somehow hit the starter kill switch AND forgot I had one

Starter works fine...

Given the possibility of a motor / voltage swap down the road, the other good news is that Shes Mad had a spare LHD 12 volt harness, wiper and heater motors, relays and (best of all) LABELS.

So now I am a happy idjit :bounce::bounce2:

Update:
Truck is in shop and getting some love. First news is that compression test shows 450 across all four cylinders. Next step is injector test.

As noted, regular use has reduced smoke on start-up, along with improved power. Maybe the 3B is a keeper after all.

In the meantime, the Tor Team is doing a complete brake replacement (including rear drums, MC, lines), clutch MC/slave, OME suspension, etc.

Seat brackets fabbed for some BMW cast-off buckets, so OEM seats heading to a new home. :)

Update with photos:
Schwab was having a sale and my birthday's coming up so Wife gave permission for new shoes. Here are the Taco Takeoffs with new Toyo Open Country AT II tires in LT245/75R16 - 6 ply rating. They are 30.5 inches tall by 9.8 inch tread width - going for tall/skinny with decent rain/snow/gravel capabilities more than serious mud/rock.

Trying to line up the suspension bits, these will go on next week.

Pretty!

Put them on NOW. You know you want to.......:hmm:

Thanks, Dan - they do look nice in person.

I would love to rack em up but the truck is in Tor's shop an hour from here, while tires are in the back of my Honda mommywagon.

The Burrito is waiting on some added diagnostics now that compression is OK - injector and maybe IP test. In the meantime, I am pondering supplemental lights for tabs on new bumper.

Don't new tires smell wonderful?:hillbilly:
