if you know it please post up. My lift is in and once I change out the shocks the hoses will be to short. Pretty close as it is now anyway. Not interested in braided lines etc- too hard to get that kinda stuff past inspection here- i.e. Paperwork.

Not sure if it matters but this is for an 84

I just had to do some experimenting with newer hose parts for my 1977.

First up is 96940-32605 and it's stock for the connection to the front axle on 1980's 40-series.

Second is 96940-34305 and it's stock for the connection to the rear axle on 1980's 40-series. Apologies for the crop, but the beginning of the hose is lined up at zero on the ruler.

These photos are only good in as much as they give you the length of the pieces.

Somewhere on MUD someone put up the lengths of the relevant 60-series and 80-series hoses as well.

Bah, found the post with lengths... I trimmed the post up for the relevant parts. Just jump on Toyodiy and look up those lines for the part number. Though I'm dubious about the 14" length for the rear on an 84 land cruiser. The 34305 part number I photo'd above is for a 1984 40-series rear and measured out at just shy of 17".

Anyway, hope this helps.

brake lines

Brake /clutch hoses Male M10 to Female M10 Toyota

97 land cruiser left front 15.5”
rear 13.375”
97 4 runner rear 14.625”
97 tacoma rear 15.5”
2002 tundra rear 20.25”
2002 4 runner rear 10.125”
84 pickup 19.00”
92 pickup rear 17.25”
92 land cruiser front 16”
84 land cruiser rear 14” with wire braid
Napa UP 38009 22”

Again, you can choose any of these to work for your soft lines.

Eddy- thanks for the link. Didn't you use an 80 series hose that was a bit too long? Seems like I found that in my search. I gotta try to find something here in Japan....

The 34305 is what's on the truck now and it just barely does the trick. The rear of the 46 has longer springs than the 40 and the lift springs with slightly longer shackles is pushing the limit. The shocks are going to get replaced and when that happens it'll drop down too far.

No, I don't think that was me. As I recall, I used the Napa part I posted. As I recall it's from a Nissan pickup or something.

I could just go look at it, but it's wet and cold and wrapped and call the whambulance.

Good, 'cause using the shocks to limit travel is a recipe for failing shocks.

According to my measurement, the 90947-02230 hose is 17" long end to end; rubber portion is 14".

Where'd you get this hose? Is it still available? The local shops tell me this is NLA... but they may be telling me that based on stock in hand.

Unless they just discontinued this year, it should be available. Check with the dealer to see if you can order it.
I have one piece in stock, but you're a long ways away.

Yeah, I confirmed it's still available. Ordering two from the local Toyota dealer... who is ordering them in from Japan. They just weren't in stock with the regional network of small suppliers.

OK I've done my research here's the answer: 96940-34805.

19" exactly 2" longer than the stock hose. Should just do the trick.....

It's plenty long in my case:

@peteinjp What is the vertical braided line shown in your picture for? The one that is plugged at one end and coming from the rear axle "way," as the EPC calls it. I noticed it in the picture @Racer65 posted as well. I always thought this was not stock on my Cruiser since I could never find any reference to it in the EPC or brake line diagram.

I think thats the breather.. So my guess is an extension of some sort for river crossings etc...

It does appear you are correct. I had always assumed it was part of the brake line fitting, but after your comment I looked at the rear axle housing diagram and found it. It appears the brake line fitting just fits around the barb for the breather hose.

@peteinjp

How big was your lift? Spring over/under ?

I just put a 50mm (2") lift (stock style shackles) on my '74 and am looking for extended frame to axle housing lines. Just want to make sure the 19" will be long enough.

Thanks :)

I realize this is an old thread, but I'm trying to dial in the same question for a 4" lift that I am about to install.

So, for the extended rear brake line, either 90947-02230 or 96940-34805 will work, correct?

What about the front soft brake line from the frame to the axle? I've searched all over and surprisingly haven't found much.
