Lou; these look very nice........just don't know what size to order:hhmm: mine are gone:frown:..... do you have one where a measurement can be taken from?

Lou

Lou my 55 doesn't have chrome, so we would need a sample to send them. It could be a pretty simple kit .

a bit uncertain Charles of where this one goes in the 55...is it the one where the heater hoses go through?; there are others that am missing such as the ones for the wiring harness and the bellows for emergency brake & gas linkage......and probably others that am too brain dead to remember just now.......

Lou

This is the grommet/gasket for the wiring loom. As far as I've been able to figure out if fits the firewall as well as the rear of the truck for the tail light area.

I also have the bellows thingy for the e-brake. I don't know if it matches the original but it works!

The FJ40 firewall grommet didn't fit my 55 too well.

Which tail light area are you talking about? The hole on either side where the wire harness runs out of the body?

Yes, down under the truck.

What issues did you find with the firewall grommet?

Gosh Charles; at this point don't care if it doesn't match the original as long as it works:).......any pix and measurements you can post:hhmm:?

How do these look? Obviously the split in the grommet is necessary to fit it over the wires but a little black silicone and that could be sealed.

Let's not re-invent these!!

Darn Ige......these things seem to be very few and far between:hhmm:; just need an inch or two as a sample:steer:

Lou

I may be able to supply an original - Arnold could be the doner.

Hey, I spoke to Marv Adell , owns the company that makes the door edge guards and can make the drip rail in stainless with a plastic backing, but he needs to see a truck so he can price it.
Anybody live in the Dallas area interested in driving over. Really great guy, gave me his cell 314-906-5300 . Anyone interested? https://forum.ih8mud.com/redirect-to/?redirect=http://www.adellcorporation.com

Lou,

You might want to check the cell phone number - Dallas is area code 214, St. Louis is 314

This is the firewall gasket from a '40 and it DOES work on the '55! Let's NOT re-invent it.

You are a very smart man. I just happened to have these parts laying around and compared them to an old grommet I had. Great match for the hole and should work just fine. They don't have the protrusion but I'm sure a piece of vacuum hose glued on would make it look correct.

cowl strips

As I was pulling some parts the other day I realized i was looking at a nice set of cowl strips!
I had tried to remove others which were crumbly or unremovable without destroying.
These peeled right off!
Compared to other sets, they seem original
I have not measured them, but they are different lengths
the construction is poor;it seems to be a single piece of flat rubber which has been folded over black urethane, one side bigger than the other to provide a base for when it was then urethaned to cowl, side view in second pic shows kinda...
the originals were not prebent; you can see the pucker on the inside of corner.
trapped engine heat cooked them most likely
