What about late model rear tail light lenses and frames?

I know somebody was making early model stuff, but how 'bout us?

foxfab made the two tone lenses (non us). the frame is 81556-60090 rh
and 81566-60040 lh

on the lenses, my 69 book lists a difference on the right hand lens? anyone know why? pns are 81551-60010 until nov68, then 81551-60100 from dec 68 on. left hand only lists one number, 81561-60050:confused:

heater defrost hoses are usually trashed, as is the boot between the blower and the body.

lh hoses (from my parts book) are 87232-60091 and 87231-60090, rh is 87233-60090 and the boot is 87212-60090

Iggy, you can generally fab up some decent hoses with silicone elbows and hose from an industrial hose supplier. I did that on my '55 and I think it looks pretty decent. Have a look at my POTM thread probably page 2 or 3.

as for weatherstrip between hood and cowl area, the two pigs i have here (third one is still in new mexico) only have these pieces...they're also all i see in the book

lh = 55792-90351
rh = 55791-90351

my rh side has some cracking at the bend. the left looks good, and if i'm careful, i should be able to get it off.

Wow, I actually have that weather stripping on my Pig although it is flat as a pancake.

Heater defrost hoses are still available from Toyota (CDan or SOR). Don't know about the gasket/seal between the plenum and the heater box. I'd like to see the vent door handles (L and R) remolded as the little hook for the spring is usually broken.

The gasket from the plenum to the heater doesn't seem to have an individual part number - I'll check my fiche and see if it does. FWIW on both my 78's the plenum is triangular where it meets the heater box.

#1 on my list would be rear corner patch panels both L and R.

#2 the boot for the parking brake as it penetrates the firewall.

currently, i'm using some freightliner hvac ducting that just barely fits over and black zip straps. it works.

heater duct

Ige; got mine from the local autoparts store "O'Reileys" 2 1/8th IIRC..... piece of cake; not original but work well; no leaks and they are more secure with a hose clamp than the original press-on fit.....

hood to firewall weatherstripping

I can get a quote on this extrusion...... :hhmm: but are both sides the same? .....also will need a good sample as mine are toast :frown:

Extrusions:

I'd like to see the hood to firewall weatherstripping done. Though I may be able to source something that looks really close that is right off the shelf. This piece along with the firewall grommet is the lead cause of why the floorboars rust out.

If that weatherstripping is not there water channels right over the main harness firewall grommet and leaks to the inside.

If I found a grommet that fit the hole and fixed the issue would this be good enough or do we want to make the exact grommets that were on the firewall?[/quote]

Marshall; any grommet that would kinda sorta fit would be ok with me as I have none!!

Lou, I posted up somewhere the SOR number for a grommet that worked for me. I´m in Mexico right now so I cannot look it up but if you cannot find it I´ll repost on this thread tomorrow.

firewall grommets

Charles, Lou, please let us know if they work; as Marshall pointed out......that is one way water finds its way into the floorboards starting the rust cancer:frown:

I've come into some parts this weekend. Lol. I have a lot of firewall grommets from 40's new. I'm going to see if they match up to what we have on 55's. That might be a starting point. ALso If they do fit and they are no longer made I'll have a good sample to make reproductions out of.

This is the firewall gasket from a '40 and it DOES work on the '55! Let's NOT re-invent it.

Chrome Rain Gutter Trim

Looking around the web for chrome rain gutter trim, I was thinking about trying that chrome coated door edge guard stuff and then I ran into www.adellcorporation.com they do metel stainless door edge guards and also do custom stuff.
They just might be a great source for chrome rain gutters but they may be a source for the door scuff plates that Charles wants to make. Factory look , that have a slight bend on the ends. If they can produce both what do you guys think? Charles these scuff plates are your baby do you want to take the lead and contact them? Base on the info, they can do the chrome rain gutters, that would be a no brainer.

a bit uncertain Charles of where this one goes in the 55...is it the one where the heater hoses go through?; there are others that am missing such as the ones for the wiring harness and the bellows for emergency brake & gas linkage......and probably others that am too brain dead to remember just now.......
