Merry Christmas Everyone!

And for everyone else Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas from just down the road.

I'll buy one- but it's pretty low on the list right now (like maybe next Christmas)!:crybaby:

right now just wanting to get a "feel" on the market judging by the responses i will be making both harneses first for aux lights then one for headlamps first the 60 series then the 62 series (which will an easy and fast change just have to borrow my buddys truck for mock up to be sure).

im goin to make them plug and play as much as possible and where they are not i will have as detailed instructions as i can conjure up including photos if i find myself unable to explain it.

i have pretty much decided how i am going to do them now i just need to find the stuff i want to use.

I will recomend running the harneses from the alternator however power can be sought from the battery as well I will also be using a switched ground just as toyota does. Im not 100% decided on the wire gauge but im goin to do my best to find some that is beefy as well as somewhat fluid resistant. I will soder and heat shrink all of my conections as possible to make sure a good strong contact that will provide years of service without issue. Relays will be my bigget problem at this point they are what seem to make the price rise on these guys but i dont want anyone drivin round w/o any lights so a strong and reliable relay is a must.

I do not have a price estimate as of yet as i have been very busy with the holidays as i get information i will post it up.

last thing i promise. please continue to voice your coments and opinions (good or bad) as so i know what exactly yall would like to see and if you havent voted yet... well vote! it does not show who voted what so knowone is gonna flame you on it. if they do i will have the mods edit theyre post.

and again Happy Holidays!

I need one now to hook up Mot's JAPSPEC lights I got from him awhile ago. If price is right I'll take it as soon as you make it. Post up pics of out switch options and have us either vote on them or give us a choice for them.

definitely interested in a headlight upgrade and a plug and play aux light harness for the bumper with dash mounted switch. thanks for taking the time and energy to make this happen. instructions and diagrams are always a plus.

One other electrical item that woudl be great is some battery cables. I kno wUrban LC has them but they are like $200! I know they are sweet as I have seen a few pics, but $200 for a harness just isnt going to cut it. Esp when you start comparing what else you could buy with that $200.

Keep us posted.

**small update**

ok guys and gals ive got something of an update for yall went shopping.... again....

decided to go with 10 gauge power wire for the lights as i will use this for the aux harness as well as the headlamp harness

wireharnesssupplies002.jpg

for the grounds i chose for now 12 gauge wire tho i may bump it up to 10 gauge after i get my prototypes done still undecided on that.

and for my "trigger" wire i decided to go with 14 gauge
wireharnesssupplies005.jpg

and here is the nice fusible link i will be using in the prototype it apears as if it will serve its purpose well and help keep mud and water out of the fuse holder. as the cap thingy fits much more snug than i thought it would.
wireharnesssupplies006.jpg

i couldnt find any of the relays i wanted to use so i will look again tomorrow as i have a few more things i need to get also to get these goin still. however i am 1 large step into the creating stage.

Stay Posted and KEEP VOTING!

Thanks yall,
Trent

Not to rain on your parade... cause there obviously is a need for this product and it's great to see one of us step up... but there are already harnesses out there for headlight upgrades (I have the ARB/IPF one in my 60) and most fog lights come with their own power-from-the-battery harness and switch.

What would be more interesting for me anyway is a replacement harness for the turn signals, emergency flashers (with connections for new flasher modules) and windshield wipers. These seem to draw WAY too much power from the stock harness, dimming everything else when engaged. THis is also something that would be harder for the casual mechanic (like me) to pull off.

no no not raining at all this is what i like to hear. this also means more posibilities in the future.

i know that many fog lamp / aux lamp kits come with the things to get em together my goal is to provide something better tho on that aspect of things.

now for the headlamps yes i know that there are already suppliers out there but why should that make one give up? if anything it should make them more ambitious as it will creat a more competitive market in the long run. i mean look at hondas for example you can get anything and everything on ebay for next to nothing some and most is crap but none the less shows my point.

the reason the light harnesses are something i am focusing on is because unlike blinkers when they are on they are not just drawing and intermitten power but a constant power either till the sun comes up or you reach your destination. also not to mention the increased light output is the main goal.

not picking apart what you have stated as i do agree somewhat just giving my reasons behind my idea(s)

thank you for your post and interest in the thread.

i'll take the first aux light harness kit you make up and write it up on here if you'd like. I have the JAPSPEC lights from Mot and need something asap for them. Will you kindly post the price on here or PM it to me, Thanks :)

sure would love some feedback on how you like and what you think would benifit from change as to make them better. as well as im sure fellow mudders would also like to know your thoughts. no prices as of yet but i should have the aux light harness proto done this weekend (thats what im aimin for anyhow) and i will know from there.

oh and make a nice oem looking switch for your existing slots in the dash..... :D Matching coctail glasses with the little umbrelas would be nice:grinpimp:

switches are the only thing that i may leave for the purchaser to get on theyre own unless i can find a nice looking one that i can include. Ive been looking but nothing has realy caught my eye yet.

i got the coctail umbrellas already tho!

hard to tell by the pic but i assume it just "pops" into teh stock holes where the filler goes.

The switch JUST doesn't fit in the stock rectangular hole. A little filing will make it fit. They also sell a bezel kit.
Info:
The Cole Hersee 58328-104-BP Weather Resistant Rocker Switch has a black plastic housing, bezel and actuator. Independent and dependent pilot lights, four blade terminals.

I am planning on using a few of these switches in my 60 to consolidate my aftermarket switches. I currently have a couple of different kinds and I want a more professional/consistant look. I'll be using the "independant" indicator in green like the other dash lights. This will be always on with the other dash lights. The "dependant" will likely be red but I may vary that: exterior lights (driving or fog) in red and interior lights, power to accessories (winch, lockers, footwell lights, aux sockets) in amber or orange. I'm not sure yet.

those are cool i have not seen anything like that.

Great find!

If a fellow cruiser head goes through the trouble of making a piece of equipment specific for landcruisers and is competative in pricing and quality, I will alway buy from our community first.

As for the switches, I think you were right on track with letting the consumer get there own. We all have different ideas on how to set up our cabs and might like the looks of one switch over another. It might be more cost effective to either leave it to the buyer all together or have a selection to choose from.

Thanks for all your hard work.
