Let's swap a motor and do some other stuff to a 60.... (3 Viewers)

Blew off a lot of grease with our 180 degree pressurized water.......but it actually didn't get the paint very clean which is weird. The frame and axle cleaned up great(this truck had been leaking over it's life....lots of gunk on those parts). Usually the Hotsy leaves a perfectly clean surface but not this time. I think I should have used a better degreaser.....I'm not sure what I used. We typically like to use Por15 Marine Clean....that stuff is amazing. Along with the Hotsy heated pressure washer, it's about as good as it gets for cleaning old greasy parts.

Knuckles got a really solid cleaning....will make it nice when we go thru them.

Some Spray Nine and a towel cleaned the paint up well. Well as new as a 37 year old truck gets :)

The area behind the left front headlight is like new.....

This area is not so good :( that battery acid did a number. Even got the frame pretty good on that side.

Let the pile begin....lots of parts coming out that will not be going back in.

Buttoning up some loose ends on the truck while we're getting things ready for the motor. I did a plate like this on my 79's bumper and had some left so we used it on this one. It's a cool finishing touch I think. Not so easy to find 5 bar tread plate in the US....found one place that had it in CA.

Removed the exhaust and all of the heat shields.

Fuel tank came out easy....inspected it....very clean. We drilled it for our pickup and return assembly.....and mounted that. Again, in hindsight we didn't need to do this but I really wanted to keep the engine compartment clean.....I think the lines on the left side of the frame will be nice and keep the right side clean since that's where we'll have the turbo stuff.

We may plug some of the venting and run a vented gas cap....not sure. I did order a new rubber filler hose and the body gasket....ours were crispy.

Wow...have you seen this @kelly saad . Love how the floor is done...seems very solid!

These threads and the work you guys perform...always amaze me!! Incredible.

When I pressure wash my kubota tractor the grease that's built up around the various joints and pins rarely comes off. the dust and dirt no problem but the grease just deflects the water

Great thread! I like the detail on the interior work. Awesome!

Beautiful build. Stealing all kinds of ideas for mine from this thread!

Today we power washed the trans and transfer.....the Hotsy didn't make a dent in the grease....one of the first times I can remember that happening. We were using marine degreaser and nothing. Hosed it down with a can of Easy Off oven spray, let it sit and blasted it again. Nearly spotless. Easy Off works wonders on the really tough stuff.

Found a Hide-A-Key box...or in this case a "Key Hider" when we were messing around with the fuel tank and lines. I've found a bunch of these I feel like....at least 4 of them on stuff we've taken apart. I remember growing up that all our cars had them. Must have been a popular thing back in those days.

I've been spending some time up front with radiator/condenser stuff. Using a parallel flow condenser as I'm trying to move it as far back as I can so I can stuff an intercooler up front.

Some cutting of a rib on the passenger side and a couple of quick aluminum brackets got it pretty far back. This is a 14x24x1 condenser. I plan on running some 90* short drop AC fittings to pass the lines thru the rad support but I'm thinking the upper one may hit the battery....might need to rethink that.

Pretty fair amount of room now....we'll have to clip out that little tab....I'll build a bracket to hold hood latch to the intercooler.

Really cool pic for some reason

Going to run a modified Champion Radiator for the 1HZ.....3 core. I don't care for aluminum radiators very much but I need a new one for this truck and Champion will build it the way I need it.....the lower outlet gets moved over to the outside.

To make it easier to take the radiator in and out....we welded a couple of bolts to the bib so we can remove a nut from the engine compartment....no need to remove the condenser to get the radiator out now.
