Holy cow, you guys are very talented, major props. I'd like to learn the process of painting since one of my cars will be getting painted this summer. Let me know if there's a particular website that spells out the steps for us newbs!

Now that is different....lol very cool:D

my old chevy FJ44 MAGNUM was the inspiration. When we had our son, i needed something with a backseat so i parted it out to get my 80.

Painted in my garage with PPG base coat and clear. Inside doors, hood and jams were done. Colors were: dune beige and white top; satin clear black hood black out, mirrors and moldings; gloss clear black window trim; Rustoleum graphite cleared wheels, grill and rear bumper trim.

All painted, sanded and buffed out in 8 straight weekends with my son. Priceless.

I love this truck and followed the paint thread closely. You guys did a great job.

I spraybombed my old 4Runner... but I did a pretty crappy job. One day of prep (sanding, taping, etc) and a few hours to spray. Tough with 2 little kids, working afternoons, etc. Had to get it done by Sunday evening. But, I paid $1500 for the truck, and it was the very definition of a winter beater. Regardless of the crap job, I liked it and it was better than the almost purple factory blue...

I'm pretty sure I'm going to Monsta-Line the FJ80 though... but I will be doing a LOT more prep to get it right.

How durable is the Hardnose? Prep? Is that Beige? Looks awesome!

Thank you. It's not as durable as I thought. I thought it would be more scratch resistant and you can't really see the "Texas Pinstripes". But I'm not worried about scratches. The color is gray. Cost me $350 to do the gray and white. But, yea, scratch it up and roll it on.

That looks fantastic! Can you post a few more pictures? I'm looking at doing keeping my top white when I respray mine...

my dream truck!! Love it.
Tower Paint, automotive paint in large spray cans. The original paint codes. I don't have any pics from when it was shiny and just done but this is 4.5 years later.

This is a beautiful rig! Very nicely done and do you have some side pictures?

I'm using Rustoleum bed liner on the lower half of mine this weekend. I'll post when it's complete

Just finishing up my rattle can job on my 97 40th. One less antique sage 40th in the world. All rustoleum primer and paint. I used the ultra flat from the camouflage colors they have. The base is olive drab. The grey is what looks like dark green in the camouflage colors. And ultra flat black. I used 2x orange and lime satin for my stencils. Got my stencils from amazon.

Used about 15 cans of primer. 5 cans at a time. light coats with days of dry time before wetsanding and repeating.

15 cans of olive drab
5 cans of grey
5 cans of black
1 can orange
1 can lime
2 cans raptor liner black for bumpers
2 cans u pol adhesion promotor
220 grit sand paper. Took off all clear coat

I resisted my urge to raptor line the whole thing. I think of this as a extra layer of metal protection that is easily reversed if I ever get the urge for a expensive paint job. I wanted something I can scratch up and not worry about. And something with my own artistic flare. My love of scuba diving & snorkeling is evident I think. Manta ray night dives 🤙😊🧜‍♂️

Rustoleum on hood door and fender. I don't think I have any pictures of the finished paint job. Colonial Red I think. Looked like crap after about 6 months (fade). Might have held up better with clear coat, but honestly, I would use automotive or tractor paint and steer clear of anything you can get at Home Depot lol

I feel ya. Definitely would have got a electric sprayer & tractor paint if I was doing it over again.
