Helped a buddy install his Safari Snorkel on his FJ Cruiser, installed my Bump It Offroad diff drop, and painted my White Knuckle Offroad rock rails flat black.
Now, just waiting on a couple of things that should be here Monday/Tuesday. Snorkel comes in about a week or so? IPF fog lights for the wing of the ARB, Radflo Shocks, coming in.

As a side note, i had some serious issues getting a nut to come loose on the diff drop install.
The bolt that the diff uses to attach to the cross member (the only mounting bolt for the diff that is horizontal)
I tried and tried and tried to get the nut to come loose on this thing. PB blaster, torch, cheater bar. I even used my Craftsman 19mm wrench, and then pushed up on it using a floor jack. The only result was the wrench deflecting. So finally, after a lot of sweat, i just decided to try the bolt side (not the nut side) and boom, came right off. I was so happy!

Layton, I pulled my shock armor off of my FJ and it didnt fit they did not fit the shocks on the cruiser. Let me know if yours fit and if you got the 2nd generation units, they are a bit larger.

Its the first gen OA. They fit, after a visit from the sawzall, they fit ;)
They are too long, so you just need to trim about 1cm off the back in, and then it fits like a glove. My 80 has the washer on that bolt dented up from something at Hidden Falls. Ryan was nice enough to give me his old ones, i guess he got new ones?

Coming along nicely! Where did you get the info on how to fix the sagging rear wiper? I need to fix mine.

To fix the rear wiper issue take the cover off the pivot point. Remove the nut and. Adjust the wiper arm on the splines. Easy to fix. I have done mine before.

As mentioned, flip that plastic cover, pull the 10mm screw, then pull off the arm and adjust the position. My 80 had the exact same issue, and same procedure to fix.

awesome build.

so how do you like 100 vs 80

Thanks! The 100 is nicer, more comfortable, more power, better brakes, more room, better towing, etc.
For my needs, the only benefit the 80 had over the 100 was being better at crawling/slow trails due to the solid front axle, triple lockers, and ability to run a much larger lift, and therefore bigger tires.

I just don't have that much time, or live near great spots to hit the trails.

did you try the front lca armor yet? i am hoping that it fits. as far as the shock skid, i never liked that design as it doesnt protect the bolt head

I didn't know that any companies were making LCA armor for the front of the 100. The stock LCA are really thick steel, and have to be super strong since the t-bar is connected to them, It would take a LOT to bend/mash them is my guess.

The head of the bolt is still exposed. Even if you mash it pretty badly, you are still likely to have two sides to get an open ended wrench on it and then replace it pretty cheaply. But yes, the ones that have the extra little lip to protect the front of the bolt head are nicer. But these were free :)

Sorry. I meant the rear lca (trailing arm). I'm wondering if digger's armor will work for it.

Layonnn,

Im enjoying the build thread. I used to have a FJC modded up and remember your rig and you posting over on the FJC Forum. Its funny how many FJ members Ive seen show up over here on Mud.

Anyway keep us posted on the grogress..

Keep up the good work!

See post 2 for updates on the ARB bumper and suspension install with pics!

Ah, as of right now, no. I was thinking of just welding a thick piece of steel to the face of the lower link mount, as that is where it is going to get the most abuse.

Thanks Blackwater.
I always felt a little cramped in the FJC with my dog and gear and friends. I think the Land Cruisers fit me a little better.
There have been a few FJC owners that have gone to the 40s, 60s, 80s, and 100s. Three of us recently got 100s.

Rigid Industries 30" LED light bar with cradle mount, perfect fit!

Looking good Layton!

Looks like I might have sold the shock armor too soon. When I measured it the diameter seemed to be the problem....

I like the trail teams badge, might have to copy that one.

Any pictures and/or impressions on how that bad boy works at night? e.g., how does it compare to a pair of "regular" driving lights?

Looks great!

Thanks fellas!

Radflo 2.5s and IPF lights for ARB bumper wings arrived today.
Going install these tonight, hopefully my busted up thumb doesn't give me too much trouble.

Fastest build I have seen.

I am.... I need to replace my shocks upfront. What did the radflo cost? Front only if you can.

I got my cruiser for a little cheaper than i had budgeted, so i had some extra mod money :)

The fronts are 2.5" emulsion (just front for right now) were around 285 or so each from Metal Tech. I didn't opt for the reservoir shocks as i never do any kind of high speed offroading. There isn't any of that type of terrain within a few hundred miles of me, so, wouldn't really be worth it.

I wanted to see how well they performed before i dropped the coin on the rears as well.

Ive run OME on my FJ Cruiser and had the nitro sport shocks on my 80 series as well. I have always felt the OME shocks were harsh.
Their springs are top notch, but their shocks are a little sub-par in my opinion, in terms of ride comfort.

Nice setup. I would do that lightbar mod, but my winch controler is sitting there
