I hope you mean pricing on other items...the recall work is N/C to the customer.

Yeah bro, I do! :flipoff: ;)

The parts manager, A FEW MONTHS BACK also told me they would match pricing (mud discount-ish)..

Hmmm might need to add a bit of dirt and rust to make it look at home. My new tank almost looked rediculous last year compared to my rotten frame , exhaust, etc lol

Every few years, threads like this come up and a bunch of cruiser heads go and get their tanks replaced on a bunch of beat-up LCs that toyota forgot about 20 years ago. I did mine the exact same way, had to talk the dealership into doing the work, etc. etc...

I just want to know what the people at Toyota think when they get 10-15 orders for gas tanks in a month's time. Would love to hear that conversation. "WTF? How does this keep happening? When are they going to leave us alone?"

so what year 60 and 62s does this affect?
edit: never mind, just called the #, my 60 needs to have them performed.

Well, here's a shout out for Hanlees Toyota in Davis. Service manager Rich Rizzo just called me back and told me to bring my rig in on Monday morning and he'll have it done same day. So, for sacto/NorCal guys, this seems very promising. The parts manager, a few months back also told me they would match pricing (mud discount-ish).. So, hopefully this all works out and we have a great local dealer to use!

I'll keep y'all posted on Monday...

Rich came through!

Anderson Weber Toyota in Dubuque IA did mine, fantastic job and replaced all hoses that attached directly to the tank including the big filler one. No questions asked and great service, A+

Just checked mine. Found out it was done in 92 somewhere in NY. Was really hoping it hadn't ever been done as I need a new tank and can't afford one at the moment. Would have been a life saver. Guess I'll just have to stick to filling it up just under half a tank...

The Toyota website said the fuel tank recall was still open on my '84 60 but my dealer said that about half of the parts are no longer available and so they couldn't perform the recall. I just spent about 30 min on the phone w/ TOA and they determined, like others have, that the recall "kit" is NLA but the individual parts are. They called my dealer, got us both on the line w/ the service manager, and made sure that they were aware of how to get this done. The manager will order the parts and get back to me. I'll repost when/if this finally happens.
What was weird was that I could enter my VIN on the Toyota owners website to get the info, but TOA couldn't track my VIN in their system. They ended up using Toyota owners website like I did. Hmmm....

Don't let the dealer tell you they can't do it. They are just being lazy if they say that. My 82 FJ60 is at the dealer having the seat belt and gas tank recall done right now.

Yeah, your dealer is lame. The service guy had to go "in back" and use a different system to look up mine. I posted my entire invoice at some point in this thread I think. That has all part numbers on it. Take that to them ;)
