Trying to run the vin for the cruiser I am looking at but I keep getting back that it is invalid?
EDIT: Nevermind found the post that says some do not go through. Will call the 1-800 later.

I couldn't get the website to take the VIN for my truck either. I just spoke to the friendly and efficient Sasha at Toyota. My tank was replaced in 1994, so all is good (likewise the seatbelt recall was completed).

The call takes no more than 10 minutes, easy as can be. If you have registered on the website, the representative can add the VIN to your account.

1-800-331-4331, follow the prompts mentioning recalls.

Same experience here!

Very helpful!

Sasha said it was something about outer belt mounts? For a 60 it wouldn't be rear shoulder belts, but it could be for 62.

whats the seatbelt recall about...? whats wrong with them?

The rear retractable lap belt of the 60 tends to get hung up leading to problems. The "fix" is to install new retractable belts with flimsy plastic guides. I found the replacement belts to be as bad as the original. I would give this recall a :meh: or even < :meh:. IOW, not worth the effort. The best route for rear belts is to install a set of FJ62 retractable shoulder belts.

My fuel tank was replaced yesterday by Toyota of Dallas. It was a good experience. The tank, a few fuel lines, and some gaskets were replaced under the recall. I also had them replace the fuel filter - only paid the $40 part, no labor. And told them to destroy the old fuel.

I noticed the parts invoice for the recall - wow, it was expensive - about $1600 if I read it correctly.

How long did it take to actually get this done. I went to Durant in Weatherford today because my wifes FJ60 has not had the tank replaced. They said maybe 2-3 weeks until they order parts . They had no idea on even how to approach this because no one in their shop has worked on one that old. Thought maybe since Toyota of Dallas just did one they might be a better option.

My service advisor was Alden (recommended by my parts advisor - Stephanie). He knows about these tank recalls. It took 2-3 days to get all of needed parts. The recall work was done in one day. They even gave me a loaner.

Give him a call.

Thank you Texas993 I have called them and the parts should be in next week. Durant called and said the truck was most likely not a North American truck!! Therefore might not qualify for the recall! Told my wife that they would have to submit the vin# to Japan and that it could take up to 4 months to find out! Called Toyota of America just to see what info came up found out everything I needed to know in 10 min....I think Durant just did not want to touch it!

Yesterday - Just got off phone with Toyota at 1 (800) 331-4331, press 3 then 1 then 6, gave then VIN and they said fuel tank recall was not done, and that the rear seatbelts had not been done ("outboard rear seatbelts guides")...
Heading to Toyota dealer now!! Wish me luck!

well, went in to local dealer after the phone call and they finally found it in the "system the techs use" and told me it would take 3 months to get parts!!?? Does that sound right Beno? Also, is the list in the OP on this thread accurate? The service writer guy said it was only the tank and no other parts....??

Any dealer can run the VIN to check campaign eligibility. If you guys are having problems looking it up you can email me your VIN or call me and I'll look it up for you. Also, all the parts are available. The "kit" that used to have all the recall parts is disco'd but if you look at the recall documentation it gives you all the part #s. Sounds like some of you have had issues with some service writers or parts people that just didn't want to put the effort in.

wrong tank

I had to drive from Steamboat down to Glenwood Springs for the nearest dealership. Although they ordered a '62 tank they owned the mistake and went out of their way to accomodate me. Great service from Big Horn Toyota and happy with my gas tank and seat belt recall.
Thanks to the forum for making the information available!!

Thank you,

My original post of the parts list is accurate. It took Bryan Easler Toyota of Hendersonville, NC approx. three days to get parts and they finished the job in less than one day. Very pleasant tech's and phenomenal service. IMHO, I would print out the parts list and take to the parts counter. Tell them this is what you need (if replacing in FJ62) for fuel tank recall.

Cheers! Thanks for the help. I called and my service writer isnt in today, so I spoke to the service manager and asked him about the estimated timeframe, he took my info and vin and said he would check and call me back today. def sounded like he wants my business. Sounds promising....

Well, here's a shout out for Hanlees Toyota in Davis. Service manager Rich Rizzo just called me back and told me to bring my rig in on Monday morning and he'll have it done same day. So, for sacto/NorCal guys, this seems very promising. The parts manager, a few months back also told me they would match pricing (mud discount-ish).. So, hopefully this all works out and we have a great local dealer to use!

I'll keep y'all posted on Monday...

I hope you mean pricing on other items...the recall work is N/C to the customer.
