My VIN doesn't check out so i called and my tank was done in '94 and the belts in '90. At least my tank id newer than 10 years.

Well the inspection went well. The service tech claimed there were two styles of tanks and they needed to make sure and order the correct one. Whatever. Parts will be in in one week. New tank. Thanks Mr. Toyota.

Checked mine out today... Fuel tank recall was done in 1994, but seat belt recall still hasn't been addressed. A little trip to the dealership is in the calendar!

Well the new tank they ordered was the wrong tank, even after the inspection.

So my truck had to spend the night and they overnighted in the correct tank.

I bought a new OEM fuel sending unit. They put it in and put the old one in the box.

Worst thing about the new tank is that they barely even put 5 gallons in. The TSB states to drain the customers fuel into a fuel cart. At the end of the procedure, replace the customers fuel back into the new tank AND add 5 gallons to the tank as well. Apparently they couldn't understand that part of the instructions.

Hopefully you didnt have much in your tank or I would be going after them especially with the price of gas right now.

Fuel tank replacement

I got rejected by the dealer to replace the fuel tank and it doesn't seem the part is even manufactured anymore. Do you know of a place where i can get a replacement? I have an 88 FJ62.

thanks.

I called Toyota of America. They told me that the recall expired. I told them that I noticed people from this (and other forums) that did have their's replaced. She said that the re-call expired in 91...

It doesn't seem that they even manufacture this fuel tank anymore. I haven't driven my truck in weeks...can't find it any junkyards either!!!

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Not sure what to tell you other than maybe calling Toyota of America back and possibly you will get a different person. I really don't know what to tell you. They were very friendly to me and were eager to point out that I qualified for a recall and that according to their records, it had never been performed.

Call back....i head mine replaced like in August of last year

Wonder if a 60 series tank could b made to work?
