Got a new accountant and just busted out the paperwork and it says I have to have all this turned in by Friday and I’m leaving for Texas Wednesday am.

Top that, I had to go get my 80 seat at the upholsterer and the wrap place came through with my stripes for my trailer.

Lokg story, the only work I got done on the Limo was to pull the Ebrake stuff off the old transmission and then load it up in the trailer to pass along to @orangefj45 in Texas.

Also tossed some random parts for Frismanis’ FJ40 and his old bench seat in.

I’m loaded

This has been a great project getting this old pig back in fighting shape.

Today I got the bumper bolted back on, a nice fusible link installed, Tcase shifter in place and the intake reinstalled.

The punch list is pretty small for Frismanis to take care of from here out. He’s going to take the ball and run with it over the finish line at this point.

257 hours of labor over 43 work days in 13 weeks.

Here is the punch list ......plus whatever else he decides to throw at it

Install new driver front Door Hinges

Install rear driveshaft

Full Exhaust

Alignment

Fan Shroud

Transmission hump metal work

Shifter boots install

Seatbelt install

Ebrake build

Ebrake cable

AC install

I've been stripping accessories off the 2F today which is going in the 45LV. Parts piling up for the powder coater. This is definitely how I want it to look at the end of the process, fuel injection and all.

Nice work!!

Make sure you keep all those bolts handy. Hunting them down is a pain.

What I removed are sitting in labeled baggies, others I put right back into block. I am definitely too slow upstairs to remember where they all go!!

I am totally confident in all of @wngrog work, but I have to admit that jumping in and driving the Limo 700+ miles made me feel uneasy, especially on I-10 that is 90% under construction with zero shoulder space, and lots of looooong bridges in Louisiana with no way on/off, so if anything (even slightly minor) did happen I'd be totally screwed. This is for the best for my peace of mind to trailer it home, and then be able to start off with short around town drives to build up my confidence. Plus, I have the new windshield and A/C stuff here, and my good friend's shop does all my A/C, alignment, and exhaust work, and can put in the windshield all at one go. I'm very thankful to @wngrog for all of his amazing work on getting the Limo to the point where my limited skills can do the last few items. So excited to get it home!

Thanks again, @wngrog ! I'll be a good adoptive parent.

Alrighty then.....

Since we last spoke I loaded up my Oddball 80 and its trailer with all the big parts left here from the project.

Tranny/transfer and bench seat along with some other items Mantis needed for his FJ40. I bounced this load across the Hill Country for a couple of days then unloaded it with them at the Roundup.

The Limo sat in the shop and waited for my return. On Monday I went to move it into the old shop so I could put some new goodies on my FJ60 and when I pulled it over to the other shop and turned it off there was a puddle of engine oil under it the next day.

I crawled under while it was loudly idling with no muffler and a steady drip was coming out of the top of the timing cover.

My heart sank. I’d done something wrong on assembly and I had to eat it and fix it.

This will be the first Mike has heard of this because when I screw something up it’s on me to fix it PLUS there only needed to be one of us not having a good time.

I also mention this because my team really came together and helped.

First, I message Beno. He says get Cam to ship a new OEM gasket and he would backfill the gasket. Smart. Cam is a one day USPS ship away.

Gasket goes out Tuesday. I decide to go ahead and get everything drained and pulled back apart in the mean time to have the gasket install Thursday. Turns out I put a long bolt where a short bolt goes in the timing gear cover and the seal was not flush. Dumb and costly move

Thursday I don’t get the gasket and so I dog up the tracking number and it’s still in Memphis.

Message Cam. He looks at the tracking too and says “that’s a lost part”

Friday it’s a no show again so Cam beats feet to UPS and FIRST overnights me another one. $100 for a $15 gasket.

I am tracking the package now ever hour and waiting on my front porch when I get this which is bull s*** because I’m sitting here.

I go a bit nuts and call my buddy here with UPS. He then calls the drivers boss and the boss said “get him the box you deadbeat”

So I jump in the car and meet this nitwit 1/2 way and get home and the rest is history. An hour later its all buttoned up with no leaks

I have to pull her out for one last round of glamor shots. Tomorrow she goes on the trailer and early Monday I head to Sugar Land with the Limo and trailer for delivery.

good to know people, that guy got his ass reamed

Yeah I spent a little capital making that call today but it was crystal clear what this clown did. He just decided he didn’t want to drive up to the sticks today.

Moral of the story.....it’s great to have pros on your team to bail you out when you do dumb things. Had I known it was just the bolt maybe I could have just replaced it with a short one....who knows. It’s right now. Chalk that up to a lesson learned the hard way.
