Finished installing my drawers and wanted to show everyone what the beige colored mat looks like. Here is the link which i got from this thread: Amazon.com : Rubber-Cal Diamond Plate Metallic PVC Flooring, Beige, 2.5mm x 4' x 6' : Sports & Outdoors Note: I paid $40 for this 4X6 piece

looks great, and a really close match! Also interested in whether there is any glare with this color?

I'll post some more photos as I get things wrapped up next week, but here's a teaser shot.

Can you post some more pics?

Im really leaning toward these drawers and having Line-X also applied but am really needing to see how it assembles afterwards.

As in, did you have to re drill to clean out a lot of holes, did they tape off well the places you didn't want the Line-X?

Really want to see some good pics of different angles if you can.

Thanks,
GB

GB-

You can spray them yourself with Upol Raptor liner for about $100 and a few hours of your time. It's very easy- mix & spray (spraying can be messy though so set up ground tarp and drapes if your spraying in a garage). The finished result is great, durable, waterproof and you can customize the color should you want different than black. One kit is enough to do the entire system.

Wow @abuck99 those look great!

So you assemble the framework, drawers and then spray?

I don't have an air compressor but do have a CO2 tank, lol...

I like a darker color as I have seen lighter color items reflect good on the rear glass as times.

Finished up installation and assembly of the single drawer unit this weekend:

I opted for the cutout for simplicity's sake and lined the drawer with tool drawer liner that can be easily removed for cleaning the inevitable spills. Piano hinge for the wing, SS tie-downs on top, and a yoga mat a la @abuck99 on top. Got a lot of funny looks buying a yoga mat and a case of bud heavy at the grocery store...

I used two coats of the following stains and adhesive:
CcV62dbK-g9KSLpU1oCwL5AFXjX3T0SRUpBe5mVtj9G8T-8CFSi7y-2PKfI53AqrJIXbOEdQNw6V2Y3aUh6fAAHvHSAJRmG9aOTUgwehPAKKNZrrqejnVO_N8eN-Q2tXoBWwlPk2SQVlTjN1nJseKIZ9AJERutaas6JITPc4uVI3yK7i39IpTkQm3SyxmlCtV9e4DPTIc5VdLXIc2_yYkFQsm7A34VOxyUVGxKrgs7b4ubIYpuTD1Y33UKgWayKOr5lGGEjau2lxQobD_rlivZbjztlzVjalB8uaV26fA3tisE007RHBzRX3YV1CohjV5X93HjmTGS6p2SaHLPFieX-6WedNRt7yNHIT3icsz4CTTR48gSDiB-K4nDp3QZw1HTJ-OlfgDr4x2OwM7fWeSfVoT23qPXd0YOnqGqRiNcyDSGwU7vOqLqQPueFM99MmQCfDtx77IKixpykLBbQKgSMqvJ4M-GJmcquCWSQHdjU5Sf8KePNbOwHvozojbrZjtjIzOIqESN_d5BUT6saER9EzNy_pEIA7sVDhdPl4kEZw54QwlniNipxn8WqbcIA2qoJ0efnlNO1LyGETw7HrHKyC-NXQfC_hKKaHZqsyLmYF5trR=w535-h950-no

Wound up being a little darker than the interior, but you can still see some wood grain through it.

I was missing a page or two of instructions that @cruzerDave promptly emailed out, and aside from that had no real issues. The side fascia is a little thin at 3mm, but adding another set of bolts would stiffen it up well. The tie-downs haven't made any discernible noise yet, but the wing bounces around a bit so i'll have to go add some padding.

Overall, I'm very impressed with the design and functionality, and I think this setup will work quite well for my intended use (sleeping in the back, hauling around fishing/climbing/moto and camp gear, yeti, dog, and friends). Shakedown trip this upcoming weekend hopefully, definitely for the 4th, so I'll report back further.

I sprayed the components separately.

Would be interesting to see if you could spray it from your C02 tank.

Quick headsup that the Solo drawer posted by @JAntosch is now for sale through the website:
Land Shark Outfitters

kiss-solo-render.jpg

kiss-solo-100.jpg

- $299 for an unfinished kit, just like the full KISS system
- Pick up in Bend or shipping is $79
- Wings not included but available for $40 at time of order. Available later but then there is shipping $...
- Mounting hardware not included (since these are built/kitted as a universal application) but after you order I email you a sheet with all your options and links to the bolts/u-bolts I am currently using so you can be ready to install once the drawers arrive.
- Drawer fronts ship as a blank with a thin line scribed in the back as a guide for cutting out a handle, if that is your goal. $5 coping saw will do it in 1 minute.

Any other questions I can answer, let me know.

And don't forget I am going to HIH so if you are attending or along my route from Bend, Oregon it's free shipping ;)

@JAntosch,

Any more pics of how you secured the spare tire?
Currently running without but having the same idea to store it inside...

Using a NRS strap secured to the floor anchor points and grab handle until the Dissent rear shows up, I'll snap a more pics when I get home.

I am interested in the solo drawer, could it be an option to get it as wide as the 70/30 split? I built a temporary shelf this weekend, and it's right at perfect for my 32" wide sleeping mat.

While yes it is possible, from a practical standpoint there are just too many permutations in storage wants/needs for me to roll that out as a product in the near future. If 20 folks put together a group buy and show up with a wad of cash in hand I will of course reconsider...

The Solo is intended to be more than just for Land Cruisers - a universal drawer so all those small SUVs, subies, etc also have something to play with. We're just lucky that it happens to be designed the right size and have contoured wings to match our rigs ;)

Understood. Could I modify/make my own drawer front and adjust the frame / top to make it wider? Using most of the kit you provide?

I am inclined :) When ready I'll hit you up so we can discuss specifics. My test 'shelf' cost me $0, I need to explore a bit, figure out how I want to use my space and see if this is something that I'm going to stick with. It maybe that I only need to buy the wing and hardware, but we'll see.

Quick update: shipping for 100 series drawers has been lowered to $99 - I'm getting a much better price from FedEx and customers are trending heavily toward the west coast so figured it was only fair.

FIRM ship dates going forward: the business has matured enough to support it finally, so July 23 and Sept 25 are the next ship dates. No August run, too much travel.

Hope everyone is enjoying getting out there, nice and organized;)
Dave

This was my first real project on my landcruiser. Building these was a blast and pretty easy. Used indoor/outdoor carpet for the top and ran into some spacing issues as a result but once I wiggled it all into place I was stoked about how they came out, looks very clean. I used plasti-dip on the drawer faces, after Dave told me he didn't like it much because it collects dust, but seeing as my car is always covered in dust I thought that would be just fine.

Everyone I have showed them off to so far have been amazed, if anyone is on the fence about buying these, don't even hesitate, these are well thought out, very solid and look great.

P.s.- don't mind my crooked drawer pulls... The first set I got turned out to be garbage and these are just a temporary option until I get some better ones shipped to me. I also would love to post more pics from the build if anyone wants to see.

Looks fantastic Garrett! I need to stop by and see that carpet in person, still debating what to run on top of my own set... and who knows, maybe different plastidips have different dust-collecting properties and you'll be fine;)

Finally finished installing this weekend. @cruzerDave has done a great job with this kit and includes very detailed instructions. I did have a little problem with installation... my passenger side trim panels are not in correct alignment so the wing will require some customization. (EDIT - Problem is with the Land Cruiser plastic trim panel in the cargo area NOT with Dave's design. Sorry that was not clear.) Dave's design pretty self centers so there was not enough wiggle room keep the trim panels from rubbing on the passenger side. BUT I plan on modifying that side for a camp kitchen later this summer so it is no big deal and could have been solved with basic woodworking tools. Still need to put a satin poly on but will wait until said work is complete!

Minwax Slate Gray stain with rubber topper. The handles were placed a little lower as they wedge against tailgate "ramp" to help keep things from moving around. May not be necessary but also keeps the pulls a little more inline with the slides.
IMG_1902_zpswg5xgolx.jpg

And enough rubber left to line drawers!

IMG_1903_zps0qlullcl.jpg

I had considered building my own and I am glad that I did not. The extruded framework alone is worth the price as it keeps the whole drawer set lighter than if it was all wood. As Dave says... this kit is just the beginning of your custom drawer build! But if you don't want to take it that far it seems like the best low cost option... and that is why I gave it a shot!

Dave, can't wait to meet you in person at HIH and buy you a beer!

@od4x4 Can't wait to see your install either! I'll email you on that fitment and maybe bring another piece for you, shouldn't require any trimming. We have 6 KISS Drawer owners confirmed for HIH, and then a 7th receiving a free Solo drawer, making 8 of us. If anyone has not confirmed they'll be at HIH and would like to attend the 'KISS My Drawers' shindig please let me know, am on the fence about brining bottles of beer vs a 1/6th keg... ;)
