I'm using a VR12000 Warn winch for fit up. I can tell you it is a tight fit with the winch tucked up this high and tight. In fact, I don't think you could run a winch with the Control Box in the center. There is a small strut behind the middle of the grill that may interfere. Make sure the Control Box can be mounted off to one side (like the VR), and you should be ok.

Here's a pic of the first design. I'm wasn't real happy with the way it fit, so there is a 2nd gen design at the laser house now. I'll post pics on the new one when it's ready.

Winch mount?

Winch plates should be landing any day.

Any shackle spots? Strong enough to do a double line pull?
I'll take a stab at this..

Only a guess but if the winch plate is made of steel and is bolted to the frame - And you use a frame mounted recovery point then you should be fine.

The aluminum bumper would be more of an "esthetic cover" and not directly involved in the pull.

Definitely an attractive bumper for those who want to maintain AHC but I'd like to see the weight of the mounting plate to get an idea of how much weight you're really saving overall verses other bumpers on the market.

Its great to see this bumper making progress. I love the options 100 series owners now have thanks to independent builders!

Correct assumption. Factory recovery points retained and recommended. I haven't weighed the winch plate cradle yet, but will post this weekend.

I dont think you should recommend the Factory recovery points

@duvinclunk

1. They were designed as tie down points for ahipping not to be yanked on in recovery.

2. Liability- he is sellkng a product and telling users to useit for recovery. I wouldnt risk it

Trail tailor has recovery points for like $80 no brainer upgrade

Exactly. I'd recommend either the tow points from Jason at Trail Tailor @reevesci or the RoadSafe ones out of Australia. The 100's do have one "recovery" point on each end which is the big thick "hook" on the passenger side. But, that is an "open" system and a tow strap could easily drop off under slack. Better safe than sorry. Spend the $100 and get actual tow points.

I'll qualify my recommendation a bit further. The recommended recovery point stays in the same position on the truck. I would not use our bumper or winch plate for strap recovery. If you want to upgrade the factory hook to a Trail Tailor unit, all the better.

Here's some basic assumptions/observations. A million different variables are ignored.

1) Strap recovery involving a 2nd truck will likely impart a massive, sudden force on the recovery point (yanking that stuck bitch out of a hole). The only spot on the front of the truck that is close to handling that are the two 14mm bolts under of each frame rail (factory spot). What you connect to that spot hook-wise is up to you. However, The more metal you throw at it only moves the failure point upstream.

2) Winch recovery involves a slower, more controlled force upto the stall point of the winch or line failure. Our goal is to make the mount as efficient as possible, strength to weight wise. Again, you can throw more metal at it (weight), but then you are compromising handling and available horsepower (upstream effect).

Everything can break. Everything requires compromise. Just consider your end use, and spend your money accordingly.

Can this be used with a stock bumper? like a hidden winch mount.

I sure would like to find out. I cut off the OEM brackets on my truck during the prototyping stage (subsequently changed to "no cut" design). So I can't put the factory bumper back on mine to test.

I'll see if any locals might have a Saturday off to come by and try it.

I can tell you, this tray puts the base of the winch 1" above the bottom surface of the frame rail and pretty far back under the grill. So, I'm not sure where the fairlead might land/interfere with the stock steel channel?

Will update when possible.

Thanks for looking into this! If I was closer I'd volunteer a Saturday
