Just got MetalTech spacers! (DIY)

So you guys are saying with the 2" spacers on top of the springs the 2" Drop Bump Stop Extentions are not needed ?

correct.

Question. I've got a stock 80, I want a little lift out of the front and back. If I do these spacers on the front, how can I level out the rear w/o buying new springs? I like my current ride...

In other words, why the #$%! do they only make front spacers?

There are two spacer designs; The type that bolt between the cone and spring mount, lower the bump stop, the type that sit on top of the spring, under the cone don't. If your running a long shock and/or big tire setup that requires lowered bump stops, run the bolt on type, if not the under the cone type will net more travel.

Under the cone type, available from MAF, Mr Gasket, etc;

None of the spacers are designed to work with stock springs.

Huh? The spacers don't care what springs are under them.

To answer the question more directly - The reason these are made for the front is that some OME spring combinations give a stinkbug, or rear high stance. This is for putting loads in the back - sorta like how some pickups are rear high.

If you want an inch with no other changes, the Mr. Gasket Spacers work in the front and rear.

Correct, but I didn't feel like typing all of that twice, in two threads that at the time were right next to each other.:D

Thanks, that answers my question!

Look Awsome! Thanks for such a detailed post!

What happens if you break one of the bolts on the bump stop (two bolts on top)?

You would need to replace the bolt. The bolts are pretty much just holding the spacer and bumpstop in the correct possition, so there isn't much load on them. However, I would want to make sure it doesn't rotate or move. IMO, suspension is the 3rd most important safety component on a vehicle.

Does it matter if the bolts are flush mounted or can i use hex bolts? i havent taken it off yet, so i dont know if the bolt is welded or what. I have a feeling the other will break also(corrosion). I wanted to make sure before i break the other one, i have a clear plan of action.

Does anyone know the bolt size off hand?

What a great DIY thread! I just installed a set on my 97'. I was going to post some pics but there's no need to with this post. Thanks for the write up!

If I were to add anything for anyone installing these, is that the stock cone takes a 12mm and these spacers take a 1/2" wrench. It was a bit of a PITA when had the 12 wrench in my hand and mounted the cone to the spacer, got in the truck, then discover that I need to drop the 12 and go back to the tool box for a 1/2 wrench. :censor: But no big it all worked out and the rig looks great!

Surprised I haven't post in this thread. But yes, they do great. Been running them for years now.. 2" with J's on the corners.

Anyone know if it'll be alright running OME 60070L shocks up front with OME 2863J's (J springs) and the 2" MetalTech spacers? I don't want to damage the shocks.
That's what I ran. No issues or damage.
