I noticed a difference right away, the beams are more focused and I could see at least 1/4 farther than the OEM's.

Anybody near Minneapolis?

On a BMW board some one stated there were something like 88 JD bulbs available in Minneapolis going for $9.99 each! Anybody near a JD dealer in Minneapolis?

If so, how about scoring me a pair at $9.99 each, I'll pay for shipping! Thanks, Brewster

I hope I'm doing this right. My name is Park Richard and about a year ago I purchased a 1991 FJ80 with 150,000 miles on it. It is in very good shape, completely stock, and due to my financial status will most likely have to remain that way.

However, I like to go shooting in farmers fields and almost got it stuck and really muddy the first time I took it out. My buddy laughed his butt off as he watched my huge eyes as I squirted around in a coulee until I came to the end and was able to get it out.

I change the oil every 3,000 miles. 8 quarts was new to me. It burns a quart every 1,000 miles. I'm not too worried about it since it seems to have ok power and does not blow smoke.

My wife likes it and it is our daily driver.

Nagerjaeger,
We welcome newbies but I will point out that you have replied to a relatively old thread and your post was "off-topic" for this thread. Generally, new members will post a New Thread with a subject like "Introduction of a new member with a 1991 FJ80" or "Hello from a new member from Tucumcari, New Mexico".

Then you can describe your ride, how you plan to use it, and post a picture if possible. We like pictures; not of you though... pictures of your truck or the places where you take it.

:flipoff2: <==== New member greeting.

Kurt,
Don't you have some old rusty nuts that need PB Blasted? ;)

That reminds me. I suggested to Nagerjaeger that he should post pics of his truck. I can remember when we first struggled with teaching you how to work a digicam and how to post pictures. Those were some trying times Kurt, and as I recall, you posted about 2 dozen pictures of a freakin' turtle in your back yard. Please do a search and find those old pictures. We need a laugh every so often. :D

I tried to find them at the original $10 price...Believe me I tried VERY hard. Last I checked with the local JD stores the price was $23.99 ea and up. I even scoured the web and looked into trying to become a distributor. Basically I wasted tons of my time and came up empty

I finally broke down and bought them here:

HIRs on ebay (current auction...if it doesn't work search for "HIR" in ebay)

$26.95 + $5 USPS Priority Mail shipping (up to 8 bulbs) w/ no tax (unless in WA)

I figured by the time I drove to pick these up at my "local" JD, figured in my time, gas, and taxes, the cost would be about the same to just buy them online and shop in my PJs :D

And, if you have some friends that want them you could do a group buy to save a little on shipping

Hey Corsair thanks for doing the legwork on this. I just orders a couple.

For those running HIRs in your hi/lo beams. What kind of auxiliary light beam pattern do you recommend (fog, driving, pencil, euro, etc)?

hey anyone live in colorado? i just pick up some for the jd dealer in packer for $9.99 + tax, if u need some call them up, hurry.

Good find, just called them and they are out of the HIR bulbs.

I have read through this thread and I am a little confussed. Could someone please post with which bulbs are for the hi beam and which are for the lows? I.e.:

High Beams: ___________
Low Beams: ___________

Thanks

JD bulbs are for the low beams only. Check the faq for other lighting options.
