Joe Rogan's FZJ80 build by Jonathan Ward (ICON)

All that "spared no expense" money thrown at a truck, and they settle for cheap ass Fox 2.0 shocks?
I'm guessing Ward has some sort of contract/deal in place with them. Puts them on almost every single build...very little variation. I cant imagine dropping that kind of coin and ending up with some walmart mountain bike-tier garbage under it.

Motor and tranny are top notch, why couldn’t the rest of the truck be like that. Looks like an average overland build (besides the motor) to me. Hopefully he didn’t pay more than $60k (I edited it from $40k).

I'm glad he's done with that wannabe MMA bro's rig so he can start on mine now.:flipoff2:

ETA:
Nothing against Rogan, I loved News Radio, just busting his chops. Nice truck. I really wouldn't mind handing mine over to Icon or TLC right about now.

I drove one of wards 43 builds, Ls engine, dyna track 60 axles, coil overs on front, beautiful truck. Was scared to drive it. It was customers truck and he bought it used would not tell the price but said it was deal. Drove nice I’d have no issues owning it.

I'm guessing that cruiser cost 250k-300k or more. The fj44 builds which are simpler and not one-offs cost about 200k. This has far more components and many components were restored which takes time. Shop rate is probably 100 to 150/hr. 3000hrs but he probably got a discount for so much work being done. Joe Rogan probably doesn't care if it's 200k or 400k. I am curious what other cruiser shops would transform a 80 into with that kind of budget.

Love this truck! I like anything that Ward has the ability to take down to refinish every single nut and bolt. Of course they are way overpriced and overkill, but who wouldn't want a better than new 80.

The other thing I really loved in this video is that he confirmed the drivetrain loss even with the LS engines. So he started with 560hp and the dyno put him at 360awhp. My all stock bottom end and head, turbo 1FZ made more awhp. So those guys that are always saying the 1FZ sucks just throw in an LS3, kind of forget about the drivetrain loss even with the 4L85E like in this truck.

Very nice nut & bolt restoration, I really like about 90% of what's been done here. Some personal selections like suspension/wheels/tires, headlights, and that big Chevy Tahoe steering wheel aside, it's a dream truck.

If anything it should’ve been a Toyota v-8. Not a fan of putting non same brand engine swaps in cars. For what was paid I would’nt even want to take that off road. Didn’t do much for me.

L. O. L. That’s some funny hsti right there.

I think we are biting troll bait, but can’t resist... let’s say he got a deal at $100/hr for shop time. That’s still $300K in labor alone.
