How I do mid wire splices:

This type of stripper makes it easy to strip in the middle of a wire. In some cases the insulation will stay stretched back, other it needs to be done twice and the part in the middle cut out.

Sure seem to know a lot about strippers......:p

New water pump is in, no leaks, seeps, etc. Had time for a quick joy ride around the neighborhood.:hillbilly: In the morning, will be doing a quick alignment, check over, install the passenger seat, then will be putting some miles on it, getting it broken in. Hoping for good weather, windshield wiper blades are shot, doesn't have doors....

Good plan,,, doubt it will work?

Its alive!!

Nice work guys

I take it there were no curbs in the way :hillbilly: :steer:

I only drove it to lunch, Inkpot put most of the miles on it. But, no didn't hit any curbs. It's nice to drive a '40 that you don't have to fight with to make it go where you want!:hillbilly:

and when it levitates, I oblige

Yea, OK. I confess.:o I'm the one that had to :steer:drive it all over:crybaby: Mesa during rush hour. Steers really nice, even for a short wheelbase, which I have been away from for along time. Just enough resistance in the wheel to give you a little feedback. Straight and steady, no wandering at all. Didn't get much over 50 mph, but I have no doubt that it will have good manners on the freeway. Engine temp stayed steady at 195. It has a neat little sputtering rough idle when it comes back down to 600 rpm. Not much doubt that it has a little extra:bounce: cam in it. Pulls steady off idle when pulling away from stops. No need to add much throttle to get it moving. Engine is way too new to romp on it. I probably never got over 2500:eek: rpm, but never really needed to. I suppose,:hhmm: if I really have to:rolleyes:, I could drive it a little more:bounce2: to help loosen it up and get it up to 100%.

Root Beer 40

If you're in the Valley and have not made it to Kevin's shop to see the "Root Beer" 40, you're missing out.

Lorna and I were up yesterday and drove it for a bit. Impressions are: smooth running, definitely a stronger power curve, and stronger power steering with no slop. The attention to detail and workmanship that Kevin and John have put into this project cannot be over stated. Many kudos guys! Still more work to be done but it is coming along nicely.

Enjoyed visiting with Juan as well as Carl and young Sam. That kid's a goer!.

Enjoyed the dinner at Logans. The evening ended too soon.

Any pics of this oft-mentioned curb action>?

Nope, not that I know of, but if there is enough interest, could recreate for the cameras? Not a big deal, bumped a 2.5" curb in the parking lot, but looks to be one of those things that I will never live down?:hillbilly:

Water pump differences, one is, one isn't?

The one with the blue dot (on the left in the first pic, right in the other two) is from the dealer. The other is from ebay, sold as a genuine Aisin?
