Jack stands

Need a set, or more, of jack stands but I'm wary of the "lift the handle to release" models that are everywhere. What do y'all use and is there a good source you're recommend?

I have the biggest one's they sell at Wal-Mart. They're 6 tons I think and have a secondary safety pin. I have no fear of the lift to release type as long as they aren't the cheapest ones you can find.

i have quiet a few stands from the type you described to a pair of 10 ton stands that at the minimum heigth stand about 3 ft tall, extended heigth is probably close to 4.5 feet.

I have a pair of 6 ton craftsman that are built like that and have had no problems with them. They have been holding my 62 up for a while now.

Have 2-pair of the 12T...works great on the hundy pig (3T+)...tall, solid...no issues.

I wouldn't have any issues with them. Although that being said I do like the ones that have the safety pins just for the added piece of mind when crawling around under a 7K lb rig.

I have 4 3 ton AC Hydraulics and a pair of 6 ton jacks from Sears. I find I use the AC Hydraulics most of the time.

I still throw my tires underneath when I can just for good measure and usually leave my jack in place for a little extra safety.
