I've tried finding a picture of Ivan's 80 on the internet and nothing. I can't believe there's no photos. I must be missing it somewhere. Anyone else have any luck?

ok so i asked your question over on race-dezert and here was an interesting reply...

i remember that truck. they did a ttb swap on the front end.

....hows that for a plot twist.

I believe the TTB was on his 4-runner (pre LC prerunner) that was given to Ivan at one point. Don't exactly remember the shop who built it, but it was a pure offroad vehicle.

Take a picture of them w/ your digital camera...Make sure the light is diffused (no glare/reflections).

Here's what they had to say on Race-Dezert....

It's a 1997 that has:
- 8 17" Stroke Bilstein 65mm Shocks

- PIAA Pro 80 XT Lights
- Stock Inline 6 with a aftermarket exhaust
- Custom Seats, Simpson Harnesses, TerraTrip Rally computer, Vertex VHF radio, Hi-Lift Jack,Tow Starp, Ice Chest, and a full size spare.
- Tube bumpers front and rear with Aluminum skids.
- Built by John Ray of Ray's Custom Fabrication in El Cajon, CA.
- It is painted Blue, Red, Grey, Silver, and White.


You think 14" of wheel travel is accurate?

I LUV it, but I would shrink the TOYOTA text down so you don't have to decal your handle. It would wear off on the handle and be a MAJOR PITA to put on.

That's funny. I've been wanting to do the Toyota racing paint scheme for a couple of years now.

at the FJ launch event at Sema a few years ago my friend and I actually asked Ivan about this 80. He told us it was a non-VIN 5spd that he was given by toyota and eventually gave back to them. He also mentioned that he currently (at that time) used a modified 100 series for cruising around the desert.
