Thanks for all the information on the trans filters, I am defiantly going to include that in my setup.
Well I have been out of town working for the last two weeks straight so nothing got done. This weekend my wife let me use one of "our together days" to work on the engine. I leave again for another two week stint tomorrow.
Today I set about getting the block painted, I like a few other Isuzu 4BD swapwers chose "New Ford Gray" Engine block paint. I (my 70 year old father actually) masked off everything on the fresh stripped block but what I wanted to paint. I started laying coats at and 3 coats in a had a great glossy covering.

Looks really good, paint went on great. I plan to paint again once a get more of the bits are on such as oil cooler and front and rear covers as well as head.
I went over all the threaded holes with the correct size bottoming tap to clean out the threads (glad I did this most had a good build up of gunk) I then washed out with break clean. I also went through each of the head bolt holes same thing lots of crud and very glad I did it.
While I was painting my dad got the liners in the deep freeze, 2 hours later they where frozen. and the block was ready for liners. Sorry no pictures on them going in I had my hands full. They all went in well and fit nice and snug.

Starting to look like new!
I also went over the two small scratches in the block deck with some JB weld, I let it set up then used a razor to shave off the excess. You can not feel the scratch at all now with a fingernail.
After the liners where in I attached the pistons to the corresponding balanced rods and set them aside for next time. I also got the freshly cleaned up oil cooler back on the block.
I found that the Vinegar really is not good for cast parts, the put the timing gear rear housing in for two weeks.......yeah its destroyed. Should have learned my lesson first time round. I found used one on
Ebay today and ordered it ($150 mistake).
Anyway that's it for now, I hope to be back at it just before May.
Some had asked in the pistons where Alfin style with the steel ring insert and they are, I did a scratch test on them.
