Nice deal! Any pics or it in place?

I really like the Lowes Kobalt unit with the exception of the drain mechanism is not the greatest, hence the allen plug.

I'll take a picture of it when I get home this eve. I have the empty package at work and the SKU number is 401-910. However, when you punch in this number on the HD site, you get a picture of the older unit with a shcrader valve drain, not a petcock.

I had the older Kobalt unit and the petcock drain was plastic and did not seal all the way and I had a vacume leak
Maybe it has changed since then

This unit from Husky is probably built by the same company so I may have the same issue as well.

As promised, here's the pic of my unit.

That looks just like the unit I had
That valve on the bottom is garbage and will leak
I sealed it up with some JB weld
It held for about 2 years and started to leak again
Plus other parts of the unit started to degrade
It is not very well made
Plus these units are really designed for water/air seperation on compressors
Over time the heat and oil will start take its toll on it

Good info. I was looking for my unit that has a schrader valve but they don't seem to carry those anymore at Lowe's or HD.

Just jb weld te bottom and your set

NLXTACY...I like it! But at the moment is out of my price range.

Yeah I'd put that on my mustang, mainly cause of the way it looks. I think the cheap seperator works great for my 80.

NLXTACY,
Now we are talking!
Are the measurements in inches or cm?
A 9" x 5" is a rather large and placement becomes an an issue.
I like the drainage option. I can envision making a self cleaning configuration.
Classic example how to take simple issue (PCV-Intake hose) and make it complicated.
Not sure I will pursue this beyond the JEG, but I am getting annoyed with the need to empty the damn thing so often.

The cheap seperator was great for me for a couple of years
I just did not want to buy another one so I went with a more perminent one
Unfortnitly it was cheap and I had to add alittle to it but now I wont have to do again in 2 years

Well I am sure I have the room put after reading up on what people have been doing with the Lingenfelter one, I may just go that route. I bought the original one that the first guy did it with (dont remember the name off hand) but somehow it didn't make the move as I cant fine it anymore. So my options are open. I like permanence.

The one I got is from godspeed it was like $30 on amazon
I extended the inlet tube down to almost the bottom of the can to get good seperation from the inlet and outlet
We will see how well it works, but it should be fine
and it has a drain on the bottom

Just want to pass along a short update about the new separator I installed last month. After 26 days and 548 miles (mostly city, to and from work, less the 20 mile trips) I had a full reservoir, it was a light brown liquid, mostly condensation mixed with oil from the crankcase. I also inspected the hose as it exits the separator and it was CLEAN! I continue to be very satisfied with this mod.

i just emptied mine yesterday. it was about 1/2 full after 2.5 tanks.

Where is your fuse box? :hhmm:

Thanks for posting this information along with your experiences. This has really helped out the new-guy. Installed mine this afternoon. I understand that the Husky unit from HomeDepot will degrade more quickly than a application-specific unit but it was only $12 so if I get a year or two out of it, I'll be pleased. Using the information from this thread, I also removed that silly valve at the bottom and replaced it with a bolt/nut and rubber gasket. Thanks again for the help.

I did the same today, I cant seem to find a glass bowl oil separator. That would last a while
