yup ive seen it too,,,, lots of work goes in, be it resto or just modify, then the sign goes up. i figure with the condition of my pigs body,, not rust, trail damage that i wouldnt get nearly what i have in it so if i ever get to the point of not wanting it anymore, it'll prolly turn into a yard ornament.

its the other halves i tell ya...i dunno how many times i have asked a 40 person when i was younger how much it took to build one up to where they were, and the reply was always " It cost me a wife, plus cash."

OMG! RYAN ARE YOU FEELING OK???

Don't decide to sell your pig before you drive it. That is my favorite pig to date...
I plan on modeling some of my trail pig after yours. I think that pig is just freakin sick.

I understand if you just can't keep it, debt, DTI (Domestic Tranquility Index, "Happy wife, happy life."), or whatever, but why don't you just ship it out to me and I will hold on to it before you sell it to someone that doesn't desrve it.
Hee, hee. :)

Keep us posted.

Howdy! My wife swears she's going to bury me in mine. Hopefully, that's after I pass on from old age!! John

I have to say, after being on this board along time, I have seen a LOT of full on resto threads end in a for sale sign.
I have been through it many times (well not exactly full on resto but....) and for me I can't stand to be the one to mess it up! I put all that hard work into it and $$$ and it just simply hurts too much to screw it up!!!:frown: I would rather let someone else dent it up and then I would probably buy it back again and the vicious cycle starts all over....sick isn't it:doh:!

Been there! I just acquired my old 55 back. When it was all said and done, my girlfriend (now wife) and I took it on a 6K mile roadtrip. Somewhere in Montana, a dump truck kicked a rock up and starred my brand new $600 FJ55 windshield. My heart skipped a beat and I thought, well I'll just get it filled somewhere. About 5 minutes later, the crack spread all the way across the windshield. I almost cried.

On the same trip, I was driving down a river bed following some friends that were taking us to a cool camping spot they knew about. I had brush scratches all over the sides of my freshly painted rig.

i know, I know, get over it. At the time, it was my first restored rig and I wanted to keep it looking nice for awhile. I have now learned that it is just a vehicle and if you are going to use it, it will get scratched and dented. That is life.

Yeah,

The 55 might be going up on the block. I really enjoyed the process of planning the build, but the actual build process has really drained me and taken a lot of the fun out of the end product. I know I will never get what I have into it, especially since it isn't 100% complete, but sometimes life forces your hand. I really love the pig, but since I am staying in DC I just don't feel like I am going to get to use it.

Thanks for everyone's support,
Ryan.

P.S. Sorry for the hijack.

I can see how it can get out of control. I'm not even doing a resto or ANY cosmetics that don't come out of a rattle can and I've got a bunch of money in mine already, too. My goal is a solid, safe wheeler. The exterior is so ugly already that it actually helps. ;)
